❤️ SEVEN YEARS AT THE HELM — A MESSAGE TO OUR LEADER ❤️
Today we celebrate a very special milestone — seven years of Ian Weller at the helm of the Penny Farthing.
Seven years of leadership, commitment, resilience and dedication to a place that, for so many of us, has become much more than somewhere we simply come to work.
Being a General Manager is about far more than running a successful pub. It’s about leading people, making difficult decisions, carrying responsibility, overcoming challenges and being there for your team through both the good days and the difficult ones.
Over the past seven years, Ian has done exactly that.
The Penny Farthing has seen many changes during that time. People have come and gone, challenges have been faced, achievements have been celebrated and countless memories have been created.
But throughout it all, Ian has remained at the heart of it.
A leader is often measured by results, but we believe the true measure of leadership can also be found in the people you help along the way.
It’s in the confidence you give someone when they doubt themselves.
It’s in recognising potential and giving people the opportunity to grow.
It’s in standing behind your team when things become difficult and sharing the pride when their hard work pays off.
And perhaps most importantly, it’s in creating an environment where people feel that they belong.
Ian, over these seven years, you haven't simply managed the Penny Farthing.
You've helped shape it.
You have supported people through different stages of their lives and careers. You've encouraged development, celebrated achievements and helped many of us become stronger and more confident in what we do.
Some people may only ever see the General Manager behind the bar or walking through the pub.
We see the person behind the title.
We see the long hours.
We see the responsibility.
We see the difficult decisions.
We see the determination to keep going when things aren't easy.
And we see how much this pub and the people within it genuinely mean to you.
There have been challenging times, particularly through some of the most uncertain years our industry has experienced, but there have also been moments of enormous pride.
Through every chapter, we have continued to move forward together.
That's something worth celebrating.
Because the Penny Farthing isn't simply a building or a business.
It's the people. It's the relationships. It's the memories. It's the sense of belonging created over the years.
And good leadership has been at the centre of that.
So today, from the team that stands beside you and from everyone who has been part of this journey:

Thank you for believing in your team and giving people the opportunity to grow.
Thank you for the countless memories we've created together.

You should be incredibly proud of everything that has been built during those years.
