Not very often you'll hear us say the L word. But when it comes to L***r theres levels, and anything Czech or German is usually pretty good.

And this... is perfect for a hot day in Durham.

Heading to Newcastle Beer Festival this weekend?

Be sure to pop to the bar for a Red Dust... but not as you know it!

Weve done a rare Red Dust "From the Wood". Racked in a traditional wooden cask, its not something we often do but the results are stunning (even if we do say so ourselves)

And weve got our ever popular (and rare... because it costs way too much to brew!) New Zealand Pale Ale "Ironsand" on too, and our ever popular Sandra Wilkinson manning the bar on Friday's day session till 4pm!

See you there?

Last one before the big match, and probably one to avoid unless you are there really early because it will be packed from open till close Id imagine. However, well worth a visit on non matchdays too. You dont need a big match to enjoy a pint in Newcastle!

Facing the ground its a canny pub and home fans favourite, and makes it clear with plenty of NUFC decor. Good selection of beers too. Maybe best keep that red and white scarf hidden though.

Either way, in my opinion its a far far better drinking option than the Stack!!!

Another Newcastle Watering Hole.... and just round the corner from the previous one!

A bar once described as having "decor that reminds me of what my dad did to the house when my mum left" and that used to advertise itself as "home to the worst pint one bloke on facebook ever had"

They dont take themselves too seriously, but they take their beers very seriously.

If you see our beer in here, (which is quite often!) it will be likely Consett Stout or Red Dust. They like our darker ones!

(Secret confession here - its one of very few bars where I dont always drink ale. Because they have an absolutely stunning nitro stout, whos name escapes me. But it knocks the socks off Guinness!)

So yeah, Mean Eyed Cat. Nowhere quite like it.

Another Newcastle Pub for pre derby beer!

The Percy Arms is only a short walk from yesterday's suggestion and is a lively pub that never seems to be quiet. Matchday will be no exception.

Our ale is on fairly frequently.

Another Newcastle pub for pre match beers, and maybe not one most people would think of when it comes to Real Ales. But theyre one of our best customers in Newcastle.

In fact, I'm taking them some ale tomorrow so theres every chance youll get a pint of Red Dust on Sunday to watch the match with!

NOT A BAD WEEK AT ALL...
Firstly, Our little pub, The Grey Horse wins Town Pub of the Year...

Then Red Dust makes the final of Champion Bert of Britain!

We'll take that!

The Tyne-Wear Derby is approaching fast, so I thought it was time to look at the Tyneside pubs that are worth a visit pre match (or any time you are in Newcastle!)

Starting with the Centurion, which has to be one of the most impressive station bars in the country. Good choice of ale, and a great point to start (or end) any trip to Newcastle.

Regularly have our beer on in here, alongside many other North East breweries.

Well folks,

Besides the beer festival at the Hoss being its usual success at the moment, we've also got a bit of news for you lovely beer drinkers - something which we have had to keep a secret since the beginning of the year!!

Red Dust, our 4.5% rich ruby red ale was a finalist in the CAMRA Champion Winter Beer of Britain competition which took place at Liverpool Beer Festival yesterday.

Although we did not win the overall title of Champion Winter Beer of Britain, we were absolutely thrilled to even make it as far as the final.

The overall winner was Beer Street, a 4% amber bitter from London Brewing - think our very own Steeltown Bitter could give it a run for its money!!

So a big thank you to the CAMRA members who voted for Red Dust in the initial rounds of the Champion Winter Beer of Britain competition, to all the landlords who stock the beer on a regular basis, and finally to all of you who drink and love this beer.

So come on down to the Hoss this weekend and besides supporting the beer festival and the superb selection of beers, do also have some of our very own Red Dust πŸΊπŸ‘Œ
