❤️ ABOUT RUPERT ❤️
Many of you already know Rupert through Rupert’s Rainbow and the incredible fundraising efforts taking place to support him and his family.
From just a few weeks old, Rupert began experiencing seizure-like episodes, resulting in multiple hospital admissions and extensive investigations. He is currently under the care of specialist teams including Neurology, Respiratory, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, and Speech & Language Therapy across Wrexham Maelor Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Following a serious medical emergency in which Rupert stopped breathing and required resuscitation, genetic testing revealed he has Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC), an ultra-rare neurological condition affecting around 1 in 1 million children.
AHC can cause episodes of paralysis, seizures, abnormal movements, breathing difficulties, and developmental delays. Due to its unpredictable and potentially life-threatening nature, specialists often describe it as a “time bomb.”
This event aims to help Rupert’s family reach their £1.5 million fundraising target for specialist treatment. Thanks to the amazing support already shown, over £300,000 has already been raised, but there is still a long way to go.
🙏 Please share this post, save the date, and help spread the word. Every share, donation, and show of support brings Rupert one step closer to the treatment he desperately needs.
❤️ Together, we can make a difference for Rupert and his family.
