Many of our members didn't realise at first that snooker tables can be heated to improve how they play.

Heating the slate bed removes moisture from the cloth, making the table faster, more consistent, and closer to tournament conditions.

It's one of the small details that separates a proper snooker environment from an ordinary club.

Standards are set long before the first ball is struck.

At Surrey Snooker Academy our tables are recovered every 6 months or 2,000 hours of play.

We use Strachan Tournament 10, the same cloth specified for the World Snooker Tour, and our tables are recovered by Keith Davis, one of the most respected fitters in the game.

This matters because consistency, pace and trust in your equipment are fundamental to improvement.

This is what Next Generation Snooker looks like - quiet professionalism, properly executed.

Player of the Year reflects performance across an entire season. Ranking points are earned only through competitive matches - and every match counts.

Wins matter, but commitment matters too. By rewarding participation as well as results, our rankings recognise those who compete regularly, test themselves, and stay engaged throughout the year.

Owen topped the rankings through a season defined by consistency, winning the Challenge League and finishing runner-up in the Champions League - both true tests of performance.

A thoroughly deserved Player of the Year.

Curtain Raiser Cup Winner - Alex (Age 9)

Our Curtain-raiser Cup opens each new season - and this year it produced a moment everyone enjoyed.

Alex, aged just 9, competed in a mixed-age field and showed outstanding composure, focus and sportsmanship to lift the trophy.

A wonderful way to start the season, and a reminder that confidence, learning and opportunity matter more than age.

Charity Shield Day 2026

Our Charity Shield marks the start of each year at Surrey Snooker Academy - contested by the reigning League and Cup winners.

What makes it special is who they play for.

This year, our finalists nominated Mind and the British Skin Foundation, and our members stepped up in the best possible way, raising £285 in support.

Competitive snooker. Shared purpose. A community that looks after its own and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who played donated and supported the day.
