After releasing Confirm Humanity in 2019, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever make another album, purely because it was so much work. But after the pandemic, around 2021, I started to get the urge again. I knew that my 30th anniversary as a DJ was on the horizon, so I thought to myself: I need to produce something that covers the whole spectrum of dance music, all the different styles that I’ve loved since the early ‘90s. At this point, though, I had absolutely no intention of writing 30 tracks—that would’ve been an insane idea, right?!
Roll on to 2022, and I had about five almost-finished tracks that were all very different sounding. I thought to myself: This is a good, varied foundation that could work as the beginning of a solid album concept. My Westbam remix was one of these (although it took me absolutely ages to finally finish—lol).
Then, in 2023, something really bizarre happened—something that had never happened to me before. I had an absolutely huge burst of creative energy that lasted at least 6-7 months. Everything I was trying in the studio was working—everything! I didn’t hit a single brick wall—no writer’s block, no hiccups, nothing. I wrote around 15 tracks in just seven months, which for me is ridiculously fast. At that point, I easily had an album’s worth of tracks.
But that’s when the madness kicked in. I thought: What if I could finish 30 tracks for my 30th anniversary? Could that be done? Is this idea absolutely bonkers, or could I actually pull it off? I asked Arny at Black Hole if it could be a possibility. He replied, If you think you can do it, then why not? The number of tracks makes no difference, as long as it sounds good!
That was exactly what I needed to hear. Let’s make it a 30-track album!
Then, in 2024, as you all know, Mallorca passed away… and for two months, I couldn’t face the studio or even think about making music. I wasn’t sure if I could finish my album anymore. I wasn’t sure if I could even find the energy to complete the collab track I’d started with him in my studio in 2023 (Our Little Game).
But I remembered that it was Mal who had encouraged me for years to make a solo album. I eventually did in 2019, even though others had told me it wasn’t worth all the work. He had always said: Making an album is such a personal thing. It’s like a cross-section in time, a snapshot of your life at that specific moment. It’s a reminder of the music you were enjoying then—a creation that will stand the test of time and be part of your legacy.
How right he was. I had to finish the album now.
In April 2024, I genuinely felt like Mallorca was channeling this huge amount of energy and inspiration into me. It had a profound effect—I felt a level of drive and laser-sharp focus like never before. I worked solidly from April right up until my album deadline in January 2025, spending every possible day in the studio, working weekends whenever I had them off, and pulling some late-night sessions too.
And now—it’s FINISHED. I made it to the finish line!
The album is out NOW, guys. It’s been written from the heart, and it’s been written with all of YOU in mind. It’s been inspired by the raves of the ‘90s, the trance of the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, the trance and techno of the ‘10s and ‘20s—but also by the clubbers I’ve met, the countless countries and cities I’ve been to, the friends I’ve made, the DJs who have inspired me, and the loyal promoters who keep booking me.
I wouldn’t be here without you all.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Enjoy my album, TH3RTY!!!
😊🙏❤️❤️❤️
