Went to see The King’s Speech by the Clitheroe Parish Church Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society last night and honestly it was one of the best local productions I’ve ever seen.
It was my first time going and I genuinely didn’t know what to expect, but from start to finish it was absolutely outstanding. The atmosphere of the church hall gave it that classic old-style theatre feel — like how community plays must have been done years ago — and it made the whole evening even more special.
The cast, the acting, the sound, the staging… everything felt incredibly professional. Considering everyone involved is local and rehearsing around normal jobs and everyday life, the standard was unbelievable. A huge credit to every single person involved both on stage and behind the scenes.
I’ll definitely be going back every year from now on. If you ever get the chance to go and watch one of their productions, do it — Clitheroe should be really proud of talent like this on its doorstep. 👏🎭
