IMPORTANT UPDATE!!
THE ARKWRIGHT ARMS ROAD CLOSURE.

It’s like Freaky Friday, today is SWITCH DAY!
The roadworks are progressing, one side of the job is complete and Severn Trent are changing which part of the road is closed.

As of 3.00pm Friday 14th November, the road in the direction of Arkwright/Chesterfield (West) IS NOW OPEN!!!! The Inkersall/Staveley direction (North) road also remains open. The traffic lights at the bottom have now been reinstated, so please abide by them.

The road in the direction of Duckmanton/Bolsover (East) is however NOW CLOSED.
The Roadworks are scheduled to be completed by the 19th December.
(Please be careful today if you are thinking of using Tom Lane as an alternate route, thanks to storm Claudia, we believe this road is flooded, although some reports say its passable with care).

As the changeover has only just happened, we are unsure whether any of the road closure signage has been altered or not. We will post again to make everyone aware of the latest information as soon as we know any more.

THE ARKWRIGHT ARMS ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE!!

We are still here and open, despite the road works! We would like to extend a massive THANK-YOU! to everyone who has been down and supported us so far.

After a meeting with Severn Trent yesterday, we were told that they are on target with the works and that the Arkwright/Chesterfield (West) side of the road works, where the road is currently closed, should probably be completed between the 10th and 17th of November. When they then open that section of the road they will consequently close the Duckmanton/Bolsover (East) side of the road (the opposite side of the pub).

The road signs however will not significantly change, so there will be little indication as to when this has happened and with no specific date, this could cause chaos. So keep a close eye on our updates and we will let you know WHICH road is closed WHEN.

Currently, you can get to the pub by navigating around the road closure signs, that are unnecessarily across the carriageway from both the Duckmanton/Bolsover and Inkersall/Staveley directions. Access will only be possible from the Arkwright/Chesterfield direction once works are completed on that side, and the closure is moved to the next phase of the project.

Just put a new pulled pork recipe together.

A pub in Derbyshire has issued a plea to customers amid the closure of a major A-road - with the venue remaining open and offering a discount on food for those who visit.

THE ARKWRIGHT ARMS IS OPEN!!

Please call in and see us for 10% OFF FOOD!

Despite the attempts by Severn Trent to make it look like the road is closed, this is NOT the case.
During this phase of roadworks, Chesterfield Road is closed going up the hill towards Arkwright and Chesterfield, after the traffic lights at the bottom. HOWEVER it is still open from the Duckmanton and Bolsover direction, and Staveley Road is also still open for the Staveley and Inkersall direction. YOU CAN USE THESE ROADS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, you simply have to navigate around the road closure signs, that are unnecessarily across the carriageway, to still be able to use them.
We have asked Severn Trent to move these signs to the side but they refuse.

Additionally, with everybody needlessly cutting through Duckmanton village and down Tom lane, it is causing disproportionately and dangerously high volumes of traffic in the area, which is pointless as the main roads are open.

Please, Use the roads (that are open!), drive around the road closure signs and why not pop in and see us for a pint too!
