A heartfelt message to our customers, friends and supporters of Gasoline American Bar. Back in 2022 we set out to try and revamp the business into something different for the town. To provide a venue with a genuine USA bar feel though atmosphere, live sports, entertainment and service. We wanted to provide somewhere for those after work drinks, the midweek humpdays and of course the weekends!
It is apparent to most people who have any grasp on the economy in the UK that pubs are closing at an alarming rate and it is often the solo operator independent venues like ourselves that are hit first. Surviving the current onslaught of taxes, rising costs, red tape and more placed on us has been crippling and continues with no real light at the end of the tunnel.
It is with some fear and disheartenment that we have had to take some pretty serious action and have to announce from this week we will be closing during the week and we will only be opening at weekends. Fri/Sat/Sun from 12pm unless there are special events in week. (WorldCup etc) We have had to lose a lot of staff, close the general opening of the kitchen and more to try and streamline the business. The reality is we just do not have enough weekday business to remain open on those days. So our only hope going forward is to focus on becoming a weekend destination venue and putting our efforts into that offering.
We hope that these measures will help to increase the chance of survival and that it is the first step on the ladder not the first step of the slippery slope.
We will be looking at lots of options from more live entertainment to kitchen pop up events and of course the usual sports and DJ events will continue at weekends.
