**BRINGING YOUR OWN DRINKS IN TO PUBS**
This has become a common occurrence lately, not just in our pub but others are reporting increasing incidents of this too. We borrowed this from a publican friend of ours, they put it perfectly and allowed us to share…please read below!
Bringing your own alcohol into a pub is not just disrespectful — it’s dangerous.
When our team serve you, we’re not just pulling pints.
We are actively trying to manage a safe environment.
We check ID.
We monitor how much people are drinking.
We make judgement calls — sometimes that’s a pint of water instead of another drink, sometimes it’s switching someone onto soft drinks, sometimes it’s a firm “no”.
That’s part of our licence.
That’s part of our duty of care.
That’s what keeps everyone safe.
But the moment alcohol is brought in from outside, all of that control disappears.
We don’t know what’s being consumed.
We don’t know how much someone has had.
We can’t manage intoxication.
We can’t protect the space the way we’re legally required to.
What should be a safe, well-managed environment can become unpredictable — and that’s not fair on our team, and it’s not fair on the people who come here to enjoy themselves safely.
It also creates another serious issue…
If someone hasn’t been served because they don’t have ID, but then sits drinking alcohol brought in from outside — we have no way of knowing what they’re consuming.
That is a safeguarding risk.
And it puts our licence — and therefore the future of the pub — at risk.
So here it is, plain and simple:
🚫 No outside alcohol is allowed on these premises.
🚫 If you are found with it, it will be removed.
🚫 You will be asked to leave.
This isn’t about being strict for the sake of it.
This is about protecting a space that so many of you love.
We work incredibly hard to make this pub safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone — and we will not compromise that.
Respect the pub.
Respect the rules.
Respect the people around you.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
