Bassment is an intimate, off the beaten track, low ceiling basement venue, just a one minute walk from Chelmsford’s bus and railway stations. The 150 cap live room offers some of the most up close and personal live experiences you’re likely to get, with bands playing same level as

the audience and DJ’s spinning from behind bars in an old cell in the corner of the room. Often punching well above our weight with the calibre of artists for such a small venue (which includes a second room, upstairs and large smoking area taking total cap to 300), we also pride ourselves on being an important, creative and social hub for the city and it’s emerging talent. You can expect to hear a heady mix of live music from the fields of Jazz, Funk, Blues, Americana, Indie, Rock, Reggae, Folk, Roots, Hip Hop, Acoustic and many more. After the live shows, our infamous weekend club nights take you through ‘til 4am, where you’ll hear the choicest cuts from across the genres. Bank Holiday Sundays see us experiment with the more electronic and specialist sides of the musical spectrum. Bassment is a lose yourself in music, find yourself in good company kind of venue with unique drinks and ultra friendly vibes!
