👻 .....

A bit of a spooky Saturday short this morning as we head towards Halloween.

The Uxbridge Arms was the first pub in Chasetown, opening in 1856. At the time, the area was sparsely populated and I’ve read miners would decorate their route to work at the nearby pits with white rags tied onto bushes as a way of finding their way back home in the dark. Somewhere within this wild heathland was a lonely spot known as 'Deadman's Grave'.

Even in broad daylight, the spirit of a man wearing a jacket with big wooden buttons, was seen digging the earth where his bones were believed to be buried.

Does anyone know any more about this or any other local legends?
