Calendar farming at its finest.

Yet again farmers and contractors are faced with impossible odds because of our government. As it stands we have no choice but to break laws. Do we spread slurry on wet water logged ground and risk polluting water ways or do we wait for some drier weather and spread within the closed period. I know most farmers and contractors would choose the latter.

Contrary to what the media and our government would have you believe farmers and contractors do NOT want to cause pollution but like many years where we have to lower tanks for the 15th of October we are forced into doing things of which there is a high risk of pollution.

When is our minister of agriculture and wider government going to wake up and realise the stupidity of the rules which are set regarding slurry spreading. They claim they want to fix lough neagh but yet they continue to fuel the problems.

Spreading / carting slurry
Pumping slurry
Kicking grass
Fencing
Some experience and a full driver's licence necessary but reliability and good work ethic more important.
Must be fit to work on their own or part of a team.
Full time available or would consider 2 part time.
Please note this is not a seasonal position work is available all year

I would encourage everyone who can to attend this tonight. Changes won't be made tonight, but we need to show our country is behind the farmers.

Not so many years ago when the world came to a halt we all.needed our local farmers for.food security as ships weren't sailing the same and bringing in food. Now the farmer has gone from "essential" to unwanted.

I don't own any land or stock but my business is dependent on the farmers this is affecting. If the farms are forced to close there will.be no need for feed mills, farm shops, machinery dealers and right down to country school, and local shops will close.

Remember when things get tough it's the farmers that pull us out. Crash your car into a hedge it's normally a farmer pulls you put. When Snow falls it's farmers clear the roads. When the gritter drivers went on strike last year it was the farmers that took up the slack, and when trees block roads it's normally farmers clear them so tonight go along and show your support for them.
