Happy Easter Sunday everyone 🐣

Get yourselves down to The Canal Turn for our Annual Duck Race - TODAY.

Course conditions are 💦 and we’ve got a little bit of a 🌬️ going on, but perfect conditions for our Ducks.

The word on the canal this morning is that the ducks are ready to go after a quacking nights sleep.

We’ve some runners still available so get down nice and early if you havent already picked your favourite.

Ducks away at 2:30pm.

Our normal Sunday Menu is not available but our Kitchen will be serving 🌭, 🍔 & 🍟 and plenty of 🍦.

Evening all.

I know a lot of people have been asking about how the male swan is doing, after he was freed from the fishing line that his leg was caught up in.

The following is not the update that I particularly want to be bringing to you, however I have been asked to let people know via our page that due to a very deep laceration caused by the fishing line, resulting in serious infection and the subsequent onset of necrosis, Mr Swan could not be saved and after weeks of trying their very best he was allowed to pass.

This is quite distressing for all concerned, I am sure. We would like to pass on our thanks for all involved in the initial rescue effort and the vets other experts that fought to save such a beautiful and graceful creature.

We do not have any further information, so we cant answer any questions.

Again, we would like to reiterate our plea to all canal users to please be careful and considerate when using the canal and surrounding areas in whatever way you do.

Following on from the power failure yesterday, we regret to announce that for today only, The Canal Turn will remain closed.

Our power was fully restored by 2am this morning and while checking over all our equipment and systems some knock on issues were identified.

We will have them checked and fixed and be back with you tomorrow - Tuesday.

Apologies from us all at The Canal Turn

Late night update or possibly early morning, you decide.

Been a while since this Landlord has stood outside a pub at this time of night but its certainly taking me back to my Door Security Days watching people digging themselves into a bigger hole 😆.

Its also taking me back to times when I was involved in the supply of Electric and although I didnt get involved in this part of it, I kinda wish I had.

Big up to ENW and all the people I know from my BG and UU days and yes, I do miss it

Still no electrickery at The Canal Turn but i wont leave until these boys do.

Stay close and we’ll update about opening tomorrow/today (Monday) but be advised, we may be closed 😭😭😭😭😭

******************************

Unfortunately and due to a total power failure The Canal Turn is now closed for the rest of today.

We’d battled on from 11:30 when we had initially lost one of our 3 incoming supplies, making the most and successfully turning out our usual Sunday Service.

Unfortunately, along with most of Lancaster Rd South we have now lost all 3 incoming supplies. ENW are on the case and are estimating a midnight return to full service.

We will be back at 12pm tomorrow (Monday) and serving food as usual.

FINALLY - some more sunshine and warmth on our backs (even if it set to be short lived)

We’re open from 12pm every day of the week and love to see the kids out fishing and or feeding the ducks/swans, people enjoying the towpath and the canal at this time of year - a very welcome bit of life, normal life.

In SWAN NEWS and to let you all know - after being cut loose from some discarded fishing line, one of our resident swans was taken to a local vet for treatment to a leg wound, but rest assured will return to the canal soon, reuniting with its mate who is currently having a bit of swim before returning to its nest.

Can i take this opportunity to remind people (walkers, dog owners, fisher people, boaters, runners, cyclists, canoeists, horse riders, firemen, swimmers and trombonists) to respect the space and the world around yourselves and your neighbours.

In DUCK NEWS, Easter Sunday is Charity Duck Race Day down at The Canal Turn. Runners and Riders are selling very fast so with only 2 weeks to go, get in and get yours for only £2 (cash only) and be in with a chance to win a cash prize and support a fantastic local charity, which this year is The SEND Den.

IMPORTANT CUSTOMER NOTICE

Advance notice that our Private Carpark @ The Canal Turn will not be accessible on Tuesday morning (3rd Feb).

This is because we are facilitating the removal of a ⛴️ from the Lancaster Canal, which will require the use of some heavy 🏗️ .

Now obviously this will not affect any of our customers who are joining us from opening time at 12pm, it will affect any of our customers who leave their 🚗 with us overnight.

It will also affect those people who choose to use our private carpark for other purposes - 🐕 walkers and the 🛶 community included.

Do not restrict any spaces in the carpark as we will not be held responsible for any damage and your insurance will be invalid - we have checked and have it all signed off.

******** Importantly, if this lift can not go ahead, then an abandoned and unsightly 🚢 will remain where it is. *********

New Badge Day - Hawkstone IPA at 4.8% and allegedly someone famous and likeable owns the brewery - thankfully they allow people with more than a clue to brew 🤐

Open from 12pm everyday, for locally sourced, freshly prepared by us and cooked in our very own little traditional kitchen and at a ‘half decent price for a very decent plateful’ (recent customer feedback, from a suspect yorkshireman) 🤣

Its a stinker outside, wet, windy and gawd knows whatever else good old Mother Nature can chuck our direction.

But its warm inside and you cant beat a good old open fire for warming those buns, provided you can get to it for the Landlady keeping her 🍑 warm 🤐
