The Railway Inn Community Survey is here and your responses will help shape the future of The Railway Inn as a community hub!

The Railway Inn Community Benefit Society is working to reopen the Railway Inn as a vibrant, social space for Llanpumsaint.

The results from this survey will help us to understand what you need from the Railway Inn β€” during the day, in the evenings, and as a community resource. Your answers are really important to us, and will shape the style, services, atmosphere, and priorities of the pub when it reopens. The results will form part of the evidence base for our business plan and will be essential in helping to secure larger grants for building renovation, the creation of bilingual jobs, and the development of new community services.

Every response matters. Whether you live in the village or nearby, speak Welsh or are learning, have lived here all your life or have recently arrived β€” your voice will help us build a Railway Inn that truly belongs to the whole community.

Quiet Outside β€” Busy Below

It might have looked like a slow week from the road, but underneath the pub it’s been full steam ahead. The cellar has seen more action in a few days than it has in years.

Neil and Tom kicked things off by making the cellar steps safe β€” repairing the worn and broken stone treads and installing a proper light so volunteers and staff can get safely up and down. With that sorted, Neil pushed on with a full cellar clear‑out and clean‑up, shifting years of clutter, empty barrels and floor grime to give us a clean working space.

That graft meant the brewery could get in this week for phase one of the cellar install. All the old kit is now out, and brand‑new equipment is in place ready for commissioning.

Phase two β€” the full commission β€” will follow in a few weeks once the remaining licences, safety checks and certificates are signed off. When we reach that point, we’ll put out a call for cellar training for those who volunteered earlier, as well as anyone in the village who wants to be part of bar operations as we move towards reopening.

Quiet on the surface β€” but plenty happening where it counts.

Wow! β€” the support on this page over the last few weeks has been incredible. Thank you to everyone who’s liked, followed, and cheered us on. It means the world to us as we bring The Railway Inn back to life.

A few of you have asked about opening dates β€” we’re still working through the final licensing steps before we can open fully. In the meantime, we’re planning a couple of relaxed events in our newly reclaimed beer garden. Keep following for updates β€” we can’t wait to welcome you soon! 🍻🌞
