Dan Porter used to be an actor, but then he opened this bar, and if you drop in he'll welcome you with open arms. We have a stage in the main bar where our Bands/Comedians/Performers do their thing. It also serves as a place for

Dan to make a spectacle of himself late on a Saturday night, but that really has to be seen to be believed. We serve Lagers, Bottled Ales, World Beers, Spirits, Wines, Soft Drinks, Waterloo Teas, Coffees, Pizza, Dan's Nan's Famous Coleslaw and other tasty treats - it isn't just our stage that has variety! DEADSHIRTS

In a universe not so faraway - and slightly ahead of schedule - the Welsh Explorer Space Agency (WESA) is out boldly going where no Welshman has gone before. Their mission? To explore eccentric exoplanets, carry out cutting edge research and find a new colony for the people of Wales.

There’s just one problem.

The main crew are gone.

Kidnapped by the mysterious extra-dimensional entity known only as ZETA, WESA’s top crew have vanished leaving only chaos, and the least likely candidates to save the galaxy; our expendable, overlooked and chronically underappreciated away mission crew. Otherwise known as by the rest as “dead shirts”. The ones, who typically die by the time the opening theme ends...

But Obi Wan Kenobi - they’re our only hope!

So join our musical mission for some heartfelt, gloriously chaotic sci-fi comedy packed with original songs, big laughs and hopefully enough emotional punch to make it home alive!

Will this unlikely team outwit cosmic dangers, and somehow rescue the very people who would’ve never trust them with anything important in the first place...

DEADSHIRTS is a love letter to sci-fi fans, underdogs everywhere, and anyone who’s ever been told they’re not the main character.

This time, the expendables are taking centre stage.

And survival? Well... that’s optional.

Announcing our second artist for our Music Theatre Scratch Night...
Luke Dean & Frazer McIntosh are bringing you a one of a kind bread aisle murder mystery musical

Packed with absurdist gags, original swing jazz songs and a twist on the classic whodunit genre. Luke wrote the original draft during his university days to be picked for an amateur dramatics showcase but alas wasn’t picked. Now all these years later and having moved to Cardiff. He hopes to finally stage the show and bring it to life. Being connected to Frazer, who has aimed to dive into musical theatre comedy, wanted to help beef up the show with songs and now we’re on our way to making a goofy detective spectacle. Right now we have expanded the script with additional scenes, nearly completed half the songs we have aimed for and planned out the set. Soon it will be the CASE of casting once we’re fully confident in the material, then rehearsing all with a potential and hopeful premiere in the autumn of this year.

Scratch night number two this month is almost here – and this one’s got a film and TV twist.

Rather than gathering to witness the next Shakespeare, Table Read will showcase the next Aaron Sorkin. There’s literally no limit to the stories that can be told here. Echoing the ‘Readthrough’ that happens at the start of all productions, Table Read is free to go anywhere. There’s no budget too big, no story too intimate. This is an opportunity for audiences, writers, and actors, to experience something entirely new within the comfort of something old.

Their first ‘pilot’ night, the five chosen scripts respond to the theme… pilot.
