Hey folks 👋🏻

We have certainly had a tough time throughout lockdown & thankfully we were able to become a delivery outpost for which paid the bills and kept staff employed! Having reflected on the direction going forward we have made the decision to mothball the beauty that is the Dark model and streamline our efforts into Dusty Knuckle and all things pizza & natural wine. We are in the process of converting this unit into a natural wine shop, fresh pasta and wood fired pizza outlet for our customers and those accessing the Castle Street dining space ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

We are confident this isn’t the end of Dark but it is a little farewell for now from all things Dark related.

Howdy folks 🖤

It feels like forever since we saw each other. What a life experience eh? Our beautiful restaurant was just getting into its flow, had a regular customer base, constant amazing feedback, was featured in Olive Magazine & then forced closure occurred. Whilst it’s been a difficult time for our industry and local community alike rest assured that our home hasn’t been quiet by any stretch. We have had time to make some site adjustments ahead of reopening, we are now home to our sister restaurant Dusty Knuckle & providing a much needed central base for their pizza takeaway service via Deliveroo (collection also possible) 🛵

Rest assured that when safe to do so we will continue to build on our efforts & hope that this situation has encouraged you to support local independents as much as possible 🤘🏻

Can’t wait to smash a kebab again 🤪

OPERATION UPDATE:

It’s a crazy, crazy time. We are persevering. WE ARE OPEN. We are encouraging takeaway pizza/coffee/kebabs from out hatch. have come through for us and we’ll be set up for delivery hopefully by early next week. Oddly they are in quite a lot of demand at the moment!!
We will allow sit in for the time being but reducing the numbers allowed to ensure safe distance and minimise risk. For us that means only a few sit in at a time 🪑
We won’t be polishing cutlery or glasses 🍴
We will prop the door open so you don’t have to touch it 👊🏻
We will politely point you in the direction of the hand wash 🧴
We really appreciate the uncertainty and anxiety at the moment and we’ll be sure to play happy tunes and smile a lot in response 🎉

We have taken advice from the industry experts and listened to government guidelines, and whilst safe to keep our operations open below are the measures we are putting into place to ensure that when dining with us you are as comfortable as possible
• We will move to card payments only
• We will provide antibacterial wipes at the till point for our use and yours
• We will go old school and put our menus on blackboards (excuse the scruffy appearance)
• We will ensure our chefs plate food/top pizzas with spoons/tweezers
• We will stop polishing cutlery & glasses altogether so they remain as sterile as possible
• We will highlight where the hand washing facilities are on arrival ahead of eating with us
This industry is all about ensuring absolute comfort whilst enjoying excellent food & drink. Dine in or takeaway via the hatch! We are also looking at providing you with partnering with a delivery service to get to your door 🚚

Working hard to use the whole animal, is constantly creating new dishes. Today’s focus has been on duck parts often discarded. Braised down for a long time, these will be turned into a new dish for the weekend. Book in now and get to know the flavours these Offaly good ingredients pack!

The alternative side of which focuses heavily on big bold flavoursome plates of food. Our ethos is simple. Use everything - whether it’s all parts of an animal or the offcuts of lesser loved vegetables, and make it ourselves. It’s not all nose to tail. There are dishes on the menu that you can get on board with without feeling like you have signed up to a bush-tucker trial. Our extreme emphasis is on flavour, value for money & having a banging time 🖤
