Reds? For Spring? Ground-breaking…
Reds are an easy go-to for many when the nights are darker and the fire is lit, but there’s a whole spectrum out there that make the perfect match for warm spring/summer dining, from light Pinot Noir, to chilled red Lambrusco.

Happy Pancake Day, and happy Saint David's Day, or the Feast of Saint David!

Many of us will be having pancakes today (check out the recipe on ) but what to drink with them?

A combination of sweet and sour is never that easy to handle in wine terms. The sweetness can make accompanying whites (I doubt if we're even thinking of reds here) taste thin and tart.

So a sweet wine I reckon and, even better, a sparkling one . . .

🥞 Moscato has to be the number one candidate. Widely available, off-dry to sweet (like Asti), low in alcohol, it’s just perfect with a sugar and lemon pancake. Authentic Moscato d’Asti is the tops if you can lay your hands on one.

🥞 Prosecco would be my next choice. Most have a touch of sweetness, some (usually the cheaper ones) more than others.

🥞 For sweet wine I’d go for a late harvest or Beerenauslese riesling. Rieslings have a high level of acidity that can cope with the lemon juice - better than sweet wines like Sauternes or late harvest Sauvignons whose citrussy flavours will be wiped out by the lemon on the pancakes.

G**s Who Wine is an ever-changing space for the whole community to come together, not online, not in a raucous bar, but somewhere people can meet new people, chat and catch up with friends, all over a good glass of wine and a nibble. Meeting new people is difficult and with so much urban isolation, making new friends, meeting a partner or finding the perfect location to hang out is hard, especially for those of us in the LGBTQ+ community.

We are not anti-scene - we also love a gay bar, but they’re rarely a place where you can relax with good conversation, wine and a bite to eat. Online is similar - often full of people who aren’t on the same page as you. Enter G**s Who Wine, a friendly, popup gay wine bar offering wine tastings, great food pairings and cracking company all in a welcoming, judgement-free venue.
