🥃 On Thursday, 21st May, we welcomed visitors from near and far for our annual Springbank Open Day as part of the 2026 Campbeltown Malts Festival.

As always, there was plenty going on throughout the day, with free distillery tours, local food and craft stalls, festival bars, live music, dance recitals, and the chance to pick up this year’s exclusive festival bottlings.

During the Open Day, guests also enjoyed a range of tastings, including the Longrow Tasting, Springbank Warehouse Tastings, The Art (and Science) of Malting, the Springbank Tasting, the Cadenhead’s Archive Tasting, the Cage Bottle Tasting, and the New & Forthcoming Tasting, offering a closer look at our whiskies and traditional production methods.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the 10am release of our festival bottlings: Springbank 30 Year Old, Hazelburn 17 Year Old Oloroso, and Longrow 5 Year Old Chardonnay.

The day came to a close with a fantastic performance from the Springbank Campbeltown Pipe Band, providing the perfect finish to another memorable Springbank Open Day.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who travelled from all over the world to join us. Your continued support and enthusiasm is what makes the festival so special, and it’s always a pleasure to welcome you to Campbeltown.

On the Wednesday evening of Malts Festival week, we were delighted to welcome one hundred guests to our annual Springbank Dinner.

This year's event was held in our recently vacated old bottling hall, giving attendees one final chance to experience the space before it begins its next chapter as a cask warehouse later this year.

The evening began with a champagne reception in the Garden of Peace, followed by a blind tasting of three 19-year-old Longrow whiskies. Guests sampled one Fino Sherry-matured expression and two Fresh Oloroso Sherry-matured expressions before casting their votes for the winner based solely on flavour and character.

Led by the newly formed Springbank Campbeltown Pipe Band, guests then made their way to the old bottling hall for a three-course dinner prepared by our very own Company Host, Donald Brown.

Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed a selection of exceptional drams, including a 1998 Hazelburn Bourbon Cask Sample, a 1992 Glenlossie Bourbon Cask Sample, and an exclusive preview of the Springbank 30 Year Old 2026 Open Day Bottling.

An open bar also gave guests the chance to sample the forthcoming 2026 Open Day bottlings alongside a selection of exclusive Cadenhead's releases.

The highlight of the evening came once the blind tasting votes had been counted. The winning cask was transferred straight to our new bottling hall, bottled that same evening, and each guest finished their dinner and left with their very own 70cl.

This year's winning whisky was Cask No. 2 — a 19-year-old Longrow matured in Fresh Oloroso Sherry, bottled at 57.7% ABV 🥃

One of the standout moments of this year's Campbeltown Malts Festival was the public opening of our brand-new Bottling Hall & Dispatch Facility on Tuesday, 19th May 2026.

Following speeches from our Chairman, Neil Clapperton, Director of Production, Findlay Ross, and Bottling Operations Manager, Lea Watson, local Campbeltown resident Gillian MacIntyre was asked to cut the ribbon and officially open the site.

Visitors were then welcomed inside for an exclusive first look at our new bottling and dispatch operation, with the chance to see the expanded facility and learn more about the next chapter for J. & A. Mitchell & Co. Ltd.

To celebrate the occasion, guests enjoyed glasses of prosecco and drams of our commemorative Springbank 8 Year Old Fresh Sherry release, bottled exclusively for the opening and limited to just 1,200 bottles.

We are delighted to complete this project and grateful to all the contractors who worked closely with us, especially the local construction firm, McFadyens, which handled the majority of the work.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to help us mark this important milestone. Here's to the future! 🥃

🌾 Following the success of last year's debut, we were delighted to bring back our Local Barley Farm Tours for the 2026 Campbeltown Malts Festival.

On the Monday and Tuesday, guests were driven by mini-bus to three local farms that supply barley for our Local Barley releases, gaining a unique insight into the agricultural side of whisky production and the close relationships we've built with local farmers.

Along the way, participants enjoyed four drams, including a 10-month-old Local Barley spirit, two previous Local Barley releases, and a single cask sample destined to be used in the vatting for a special future release.

A huge thank you to David and Sean from Glencraigs Farm for their support and for sharing their knowledge of barley cultivation on Scotland's west coast with our guests 🥃

We were delighted to kick off the 2026 Campbeltown Malts Festival with our Springbank Charity BBQ & Tasting at the Washback Bar in Campbeltown on Monday, 18th May 2026.

Guests enjoyed an exceptional evening of exclusive vintage drams from the private collection of Mr. Peter Greve, alongside a premium local seafood and fillet steak barbecue.

A huge thank you to Peter for his continued generosity, and to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening such a success.

We're pleased to share that funds raised have now been distributed through the J&A Mitchell & Co. Ltd. Community Fund, supporting local charities and community projects across Kintyre.

Thank you to everyone who made this a memorable start to Malts Festival week! 🥃
