We are backing Tom Kerridge's campaign to lower VAT on hospitality to 10%. We currently pay the second highest rate in Europe, where rates run between 8 and 12% compared to the UK's current 20%
A lower rate of VAT will reduce the cost pressures facing pubs, cafe's, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs and more, and it will mean more venues are able to stay open, rather than close the doors for good.
Because when hospitality businesses close, communities lose far more than places to eat and drink.
