The Bridge Inn

The Bridge Inn Now open again after extensive renovations & refurbishments. The Bridge Inn is a 17th Century Pub nestling at the foot of Curbar Hill aside the River Derwent.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to this fantastic pub offering social eating and drinking, A wide range of excellent small plates, excellent Cask Ales and fine wines, which you can enjoy inside or outside in our superb riverside beer garden. We already own The Devonshire Arms in Baslow, which underwent its own renovation programme a few years ago. The Devonshire Arms, Baslow is now a succ

essful and much loved place to eat and drink and we look forward to providing the same high standards and excellent service at The Bridge Inn, Calver. We moved in to The Bridge Inn on the 4th January to begin this journey, which you can follow us on through our blog at www.bridgecalver.co.uk

Dear Friends

We hope this message finds you well on this surreal Mothers Day.
We thought we should update you on what we are up to following our previous messages because things have changed.

Stay Home
The government provided outline support for wages for those still employed but not working. This was not only to support businesses and individuals in crisis but because they want people to stay home where they can.

After in depth discussion with our teams we have decided that instead of offering takeaway services; requiring our team in work, we would instead have no one working and ask everyone to stay home.

Every time you leave home you are you are placing the vulnerable amongst us at risk.

The WHO, Chief Medical Officer and the Government have clearly stated that best thing we can do for ourselves and others is to stay home where you can so this is what we will be doing and encouraging others to do too.

As we look out of our windows in The Devonshire we are dismayed to see just how many people seem to be ignoring experts advice.

In the meantime there are people who need help so we will look to support the NHS team, the homeless, the vulnerable and food banks with food and any other support that we can.

If you have any long life food stuffs you wish to donate there is a bin outside the hotel door at The Devonshire to deposit any donations.

If you have any contacts with front line charities or individuals who need help please pass them on and we will get in touch.

Stay safe
Keep isolated
Be kind
Don’t panic buy

Take care of yourself and others and we will hopefully see you in the near ish future.

Lots of love
David and Samantha ###

Dear Amazing Guests & Local Community

Today we have taken the difficult decision to close The Bridge Inn until further notice.

The Bridge has been a labour of love for us since day one so as I’m sure you understand that this is not a decision we have taken lightly.

Our customers and our teams are, and always have been, our biggest asset. Throughout this uncertain period our priority has always been the safety of all and keeping our teams in employment.

Due to the small size of The Bridge, we no longer believe that the social distancing recommended by the Government is possible and, we recognise that our best chance to keep our wonderful team employed is to consolidate and re-deploy our combined efforts with The Devonshire Arms.

Let us assure you that we will not be idle during this time. We are working hard to implement an exciting and dynamic collection and delivery service for food and drink as well as planning major redevelopment for the Bridge Garden so, when we open again, we will be better than ever and able to contribute even more to our local community.

Whilst these are uncertain times we truly believe, if we stick together and look after each other, we can all come out the other side. Please stay in touch with us via social media so we can keep you updated on the new things we will be introducing.

With much Love and Best Wishes,
David & Samantha

To all of our amazing guests and the local community,

Yesterday began with a senior team meeting to discuss the ongoing implication of the current pandemic. A few hours later following Boris Johnson’s statement, we were coming to terms with what would be the most responsible course of action to take in light of the public crisis we are all facing.

While there is no simple or correct response, these are extremely uncertain times with new information filtering through on an hourly basis. Despite this, we want to do our best to make the right and responsible decision for all.

After much soul searching, we will be remaining open for anyone wanting to dine with us or escape the madness with a glass of wine.

Our 5 Star hygiene standards will be extended and now include:

• Every table will look bare when you arrive as salt & pepper, menu’s and cutlery will have been sanitised for you and will be yours for the duration of your visit before being sanitised again for the next guest
• We will only be using alternate tables to maintain social spacing
• Bar surfaces are being sanitised regularly as are door handles - toilet flushes and anything else you have to touch
• Sanitiser will be available
• Everything to remove the chance of cross contamination is being reviewed, changed and removed.
• The breakfast buffet is no more and, as has always been the case with our pubs, you will always have a fresh glass- safe in the knowledge that it and every piece of cookery have been through professional commercial washing machines.

Over the years, we have always had the best interests of the community at heart and that remains so.

Many may not want to visit shops and, taking this into account, we are turning our cooking expertise and experience from our award-winning chef to design and create meals suitable for home delivery and collection. A weekly meal-plan and an evening’s meal for two or four will be available to add variety and quality to keep you healthy over this period.

Above all, the most important thing at this time, is to stay safe and well but we encourage everyone to stay in touch over social media. Please make the right decision for you and your families, whatever that might be.

We will continue to keep you posted but we are for the time being open, smiling big smiles of welcome in our heavily sanitised environment.

With love, gratitude and best wishes,
Take care
David & Samantha ###

Business as usual here at the Bridge with just some slight additions to our clearing and cleaning practices

We have extra sanitising procedures set in place, a push to help stop the spread of Covid-19

Now the drinks menus, buy one get one free Pizza collectors cards, coffee stamp cards and our Dine Out Cards are available upon request from behind the bar.

All tables and food menus are cleaned and sanitised after each party has finished dining with us.

Thank you all for your on going support

See you all very soon x
