What a day ❤️

Yesterday it was wonderful to welcome Vern, Nelson and Queen Mary safely back to The Anchor after their incredible journey home from Oban.

We’re incredibly proud of the “Steam Team” and what they have achieved. Hundreds of miles travelled, countless smiles created, and a fantastic amount of money raised for charity along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to welcome them home, waved them on their travels, followed their adventure online, and supported the journey from start to finish.

A special thank you from Serena for looking after her when she enjoyed a ride on the back of Vern - she had an absolutely brilliant time! 😄

The journey has even made the news! You can read the BBC story here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwy2kexvxw0o

And keep an eye out for the Steam Team on BBC East Midlands Today as well 👀🚂

If you’d still like to support the two charities benefiting from the trip, donation QR codes are available at The Anchor.

Well done, Steam Team. We’re very glad to have you all back where you belong. 🚂🍻

VERN'S CLOSE! 🚜

We were expecting an arrival around 1pm but it looks like he'll be with us sooner as he's currently in Chapel.

Make your way over folks!

🚂 VERN IS ALMOST HOME! 🚂

After an epic 400+ mile adventure from Oban, Vern and friends are finally making their way back to the Peaks.

We're expecting the engines to arrive at The Anchor on Saturday at around 1pm, before finishing his journey.

We'd love to see as many of you as possible there to give them a proper welcome home! If you've been following the journey, now's your chance to see the engines up close and celebrate the end of an incredible trip.

Scottish attire is highly encouraged 🇬🇧🥳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A gentle reminder that these are steam engines travelling hundreds of miles, so timings are approximate and may change slightly along the way.

If you're hoping to grab a seat outside, we'd recommend arriving early to give yourself plenty of time.

See you tomorrow 🚂🍻

A little cheers to the last few days of half term 🍻🧃

We’re still running our Kids Eat FREE offer at The Anchor — get a free kids meal with every adult main meal purchased!

So grab the family, enjoy a pint in the sunshine, and let us handle the cooking for a change ☀️🍔🍟

A win for the kids and the grown-ups.

If you’ve been following Vern’s adventures this past week, you’ll know he’s been absolutely clocking up the miles 🚂💨

From stunning Scottish scenery and museum stop-offs to villages full of people waving from the roadside, Vernon and the gang have been slowly steaming their way back towards Derbyshire one puff at a time.

400+ miles. Less than 10mph. Plenty of tea stops, curious onlookers, and probably a few traffic queues along the way 😅

The current plan is for Vern to arrive back at The Anchor this Saturday — although with three steam engines, British roads, and a 400-mile journey involved… timings are definitely best described as “approximate” 👀

Keep an eye on on Instagram for the latest updates from the road — and give Vern a wave if you spot him passing through 🚂
