The King Stag is a newly refurbished family run gastro pub in Bushey Village which prides itself on its atmosphere and attention to detail. You’ll find a range of eight individually sourced draught ales behind the bar and fresh food cooked on site from local produce coming out of the kitchen. In January 2013 brothers-in-law Robert Beckley and David Warren decided to make their dream a reality and open a gastro pub in their hometown. They wanted to create a community pub where local people could come at any time of day for a coffee or a pint or a meal — or all three. The refurbishment was completed in October 2013, in a Victorian industrial style. This creates a warm, welcoming environment for having a drink at the bar, playing a board game on the comfy sofa in front of a roaring fire, or eating with friends and family in the dining area. Whatever you choose, the atmosphere, the food and the attentive, friendly service will invite you to stay for longer than you expected. Robert is an experienced chef who has worked with top names such as Mike North of the Nut Tree, Chris Barber (ex head chef of the Prince of Wales), Heston Blumenthal and Michel Roux Jr. Where our produce has come from is of vital importance to The King Stag. Every effort is made to buy locally and from small businesses passionate about their product. At the King Stag traditional pub grub is taken up a notch; Visit us in the morning or afternoon for coffee and cake, try our interesting bar snacks, or order from our main menu for seasonal lunches and suppers. As well as our exciting range of ales, (all individually selected by Robert and David), There is a wide range of ciders available including cider from the Bottle Kicking Cider Company which is produced by Robert’s friend. There is also an extensive list of spirits and a variety of quality wine to suit all tastes. As a local pub The King Stag hosts regular events, including an ale club, summer BBQs and the odd quiz night. As local residents, Robert and David are always interested in supporting local charities and schools. Requests from the community are always welcome.
