Ramsbottom Pride 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

Both Jo & I are proud everyday to live our lives as gay women, and are very proud that Rammy is now having its own Pride!

Some people question why do we need a Pride?

Whilst we have equality in the UK and for the most part live in a country where we don’t suffer discrimination there are 68 countries in the world where being gay is a crime.
It’s a crime to love the person you love.
We hold Pride in hope of progression in these countries, for all the Men and Women who cannot live their lives safely loving who they do.

We have Pride for all the Men & Women who before us never got to experience a life of acceptance and equality.
I always refer to the following when talking about how absurd the criminalisation of Homosexuality is…

Sir Alan Turing cracked the enigma code, which in turn lead Britain to winning WWII
Sir Alan Turing was chemically castrated for being a gay man.
After all he achieved, he was punished for being a gay man.
This lead to his untimely death at a young age.
Blows my mind.
