We are an enthusiastic and informal group of relatively new home-brewers from the Hawkedon area, near to Bury St Edmunds, who meet to share their skills, knowledge of beer and cider, to increase our understanding and appreciation of these fine traditional English drinks and how to make them.
Our meetings cater for a wide range of ages, and all levels of experience - from beginners looking to learn through to more experienced brewers honing their technique, to experts with knowledge to share. Although we tend to focus on beer and cider, winemakers and distillers are also most welcome.
Getting together with fellow brewers is not only great fun but can also provide valuable feedback on your brews, helping to solve problems and generally improve your brewing. Members are encouraged to bring one or several bottles of their home brew to share with the other members for tasting and discussion.
You can be sure of an honest opinion of all samples tasted together with constructive advice so please do not worry about offering up brews that have not quite gone as you would like, this will help us learn from each other and improve our brewing and cider making!
We meet at The Queen's Head, Hawkedon on the third Tuesday evening of each month from 7pm to 10pm and welcome brewers of all levels. We run a sub of £10 per member for each session to cover costs and provide a snack to accompany the tastings.
Additional events and industry speakers are organised on an ad hoc basis.
