Hi all, please see the below message from Lucie, Dan's mum regarding Dan's funeral. We will be closed for the day, opening only to host the wake from 4pm. Many thanks, Hannah x

"We have been overwhelmed by the love and support shown to us all since losing our beautiful Dan. Thank you all.

We know many people have been asking about the funeral arrangements, so please do share these details with anyone who knew Daniel personally.

A service to celebrate Dan's life will be held at Emmanuel Church, Southill, where Dan attended primary school and where our family first made our home.

Friday 17th July at 2.30pm

We would love the church to be filled with the people whose lives Dan touched—his family, friends, colleagues and the Burton community—everyone who shared part of his journey.
Wear whatever makes you think of Dan(iel) be that an Arsenal shirt, your hoodie, a colour, something that reflects your sadness....it's all ok. 🙏

The church service will be followed by a private (family and very closest friends only) committal at Weymouth Crematorium.

Afterwards, everyone attending the church service, is warmly invited to join us from 4pm at The Three Horseshoes, Burton Bradstock, to share memories, stories and raise a glass to Dan.

Family flowers only would be preferred, although we will completely understand if you wish to bring your own tribute.

There will also be a retiring collection at the church for the Special Care Baby Unit at Dorset County Hospital, where Dan was cared for as a newborn—a cause that always remained close to his heart.

On Sunday, our bar manager, Dan, was involved in a motorcycle accident on his way to work and tragically died at the scene. This is still hard to comprehend at the moment and we and our team have taken today to spend sometime trying to come to terms with the huge loss of our friend.
Dan was kind, funny, generous and loved by the whole team and the locals alike. He was wise beyond his years, articulate and knowledgeable. People enjoyed spending time with him and chatting about anything and everything.
He joined the Shoes in 2023 and bought our team together; making the new starters feel welcome, taking the time to get to know everyone in each department and helping the team wherever he could.
Lucie, Dan’s Mum has started a JustGiving page in memory of Dan, raising funds for Crohns and Colitis Uk, a charity close to their hearts. Please donate what you can and head to the page to read a bit more about Dan. I can’t begin to imagine the pain his Mum and family must be feeling, we are all sending so much love and support to them at this heartbreaking time.

Rosie and Hannah, 2 of our amazing team members (and 4 of their equally excellent friends) are taking on the immense task of completing of the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge this weekend! 100km! As the clock ticks down, I’m sure nothing will settle the nerves and motivate them better than see their Just Giving total keep rising! They’re raising money for the Keep Me Close Appeal, a fantastic charity that provides a home from home experience for families of sick or premature babies requiring Neonatal Intensive Care.
