A little honesty from us about drink prices at Sandhills.
Our updated prices will take effect from opening tomorrow, Friday 30 October.
Putting prices up is easily one of the most dreaded parts of running a business. Weβre customers of other local businesses too, and we know every increase adds up.
Although the alcohol duty increase wasnβt as large as weβd feared, itβs only one part of the picture. Supplier and supply chain costs have also had an effect, alongside the upcoming rise in the National Minimum Wage and the wider costs of keeping the doors open.
Walesβs minimum alcohol price also rose from 50p to 65p per unit on 1 October. While that doesnβt automatically mean pub prices must rise, we buy much of our spirits from supermarkets and have seen higher prices and fewer offers, increasing our buying costs.
Our new drinks have been on introductory prices for over a week while weβve worked through the figures, finding a balance between competitive prices, a worthwhile Sunday Happy Hour and a business that can keep going for the long term.
Weβve worked particularly hard to keep draught b**r increases low. Weβre also looking ahead, with the aim of avoiding another increase in six monthsβ time, rather than making changes now that donβt cover the costs coming our way.
We canβt promise what the future will bring, but we want to give Sandhills a secure footing and continue bringing you quality drinks at competitive prices, great live sport, quiz nights, brilliant live music and events that bring people together.
Our Sunday Happy Hour will continue, giving you the chance to enjoy your favourites for less.
We donβt take your custom for granted. Every pint, every visit and every night you choose to spend with us helps keep all of this possible.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. It means a lot to both of us.
