We are situated in the heart of the Somerset Levels on the A361 between Taunton and Glastonbury. We are a good old fashioned Somerset pub that offers traditional pub food using local meats, fish and vegetables. We are a Freehouse and stock a wide range of real ales, lagers, wines, spirits and of course Somerset cider. During the winter warm up in front of our log burner and in the summer enjoy the

Good morning, lovely people ☀️🌿 What gorgeous weather we’ve been blessed with today, so let’s make the most of that beautiful terrace at The King Alfred!

We’re serving our famous roast dinners from 12 till 2 today, with the pub open right through from 12 till 9. Cold drinks flowing, sunshine shining, and plenty of Somerset good vibes waiting for you 🍷🍺

Then from 5pm, it’s time for barbecue on the terrace 🔥🍔 followed by what can only be described as organised chaos… our Music Quiz with DJ Skeletor 🎶🎤 Expect big tunes, questionable singing, random dancing, and a lot of laughter. It’s going to be hilarious.

🌞 What a glorious afternoon it’s turning into, lovely people! It was absolutely wonderful seeing so many of you at lunchtime today. The pub’s been buzzing like a happy little beehive in the sunshine. 🍻✨

But don’t disappear just yet… we’ve got another food service this evening to keep you all fuelled up! 🍽️

And from 6pm, the one and only Theatre Cat will be singing the night away with all your favourite songs from the West End and Broadway. Expect big vocals, big atmosphere, and a little bit of theatrical sparkle under the Somerset skies. 🎭🎶

Roast dinner day is upon us at The King Alfred! 🍽️🔥
Serving our famous Sunday roasts from 12pm till 3pm today, with giant Yorkies, homemade gravy and all the cosy Sunday goodness you could dream of.

BUT… today we’re keeping the kitchen open again from 6pm till 8pm too! 👀🍷

Why? Because the fabulous Ads the Theatre Cat is bringing you Backwards Broadway 🎤✨
A whirlwind of show tunes, costumes, drama, laughs and musical magic… all the iconic songs from the shows like you’ve never heard them before. Think West End meets wild Somerset countryside 🌲🎶🐾

I'm very excited to say that I will be bringing my Bump in the Knight Tales series to the King Alfred Inn in Burrowbridge. Its an evening of dark folklore, horrible histories and supernatural stories, all based in Somerset!
