Today, we announce the decision to return the keys to the Potters Arms, ending our temporary lease agreement with the brewery.
Our last day will be Saturday.
This move comes after lengthy and complex negotiations, which have taken far more time than anticipated and have been hindered by a lack of clarity regarding the long-term vision as we see it and the timing of the required investment for its future success.
Unfortunately, Star Pubs inherited a neglected pub from the previous owners and therefore underestimated the level of investment required. Our discussions have been extensive, and while both parties remain committed to ensuring the Potters Arms continues to serve the community as a pub, the path forward requires a clear and unified vision. Unfortunately, the current negotiations have not yet provided this clarity, particularly concerning the time scale and the level of investment needed to realize our vision for the pubβs future.
We firmly believe that the Potters Arms holds significant potential for growth and development, however, until there is clarity on this, we are unable to make the short-term investments to operate effectively before a refurbishment can be carried out. As a result, the option of us continuing to run the pub under the present circumstances is not straightforward. Therefore, we have decided that the prudent action is to step away for now.
Our primary goal remains to see the Potters Arms thrive as a cornerstone of the community, providing a welcoming and vibrant space for patrons. We are confident that with the right approach and investment, this vision can be achieved.
We thank our loyal patrons for their support and understanding during this period of transition. We remain hopeful that a resolution will be reached that honours the legacy and potential of the Potters Arms and with us at the helm.
