The Eight Bells

The Eight Bells Just a local pub, with local ales and good pub grub. Nothing more, nothing less. Our ethos is to keep things simple!

Run by Willie, Barbara and Sarah for over 40 years, the Eight Bells is a favourite pub for many Bures residents as well as those from a little further outside the village. We always feature a range of local ales from breweries including the Colchester Brewery, Woodfordes, the Humpty Dumpty brewery and many more! A large proportion of our food is homemade, including the ever popular spotted dick and most of our weekday specials such as toad in the hole and steak and kidney pudding.

We are open today from 10am serving:
Bacon/sausage baps
Carrot cake
Victoria Sponge
Scones
Plus a range of coffees.
Lunchtime and evening hours are as normal from our menu and today's special which is minced beef cobbler.

The Eight Bells will be closed today.

It is with great sadness we share that Willie Amos, our Dad, Grandad, Greatgrandad and friend passed away last night.
We are understandably heartbroken.

There will be no food service at all today.
We will open today between 5pm and 9pm should anyone wish to come and raise a glass to Willie.

By the end of the month, we should have a royal mail postal locker up and running outside the Bells. The install date is due to be 28th May, but prior to that there will be some ground works being undertaken. They will not affect the pub being open or access. We hope this helps out in the wake of losing our lovely post office!
