All materials provided, no experience needed.

Our next workshop with follows on from the Contemporary Seascape and Contemporary Landscape workshops. Contemporary Skies will be the last of the trio before starting again with seascapes in December.
Already getting booked up with our landscape participants we have 5 spaces left so please don’t miss this beautiful workshop using oils and silicon brush work. This image is just part of a large painting by Jo using oils, sponges and silicon brushes. It’s a very loose, freeing workshop that will leave you feeling light and energised just like your paintings!!

Teens Art Club last week had the challenge of Ophelia by John Millais as the start of our Pre Raphaelte studies, following on from the Romanticism period. We looked at the colours used, mirroring and symbolism in the painting and the story behind the image based on a character from Shakespeares Hamlet. They all chose to leave out Ophelia (as that was rather tricky) but to focus on the patterns in the flora and fauna. I really love the results of this experiment which are a modern take on this famous painting.

Just some of the brilliant artworks created at Teens club today with me and the theme of John Ruskin. We used watercolour to create a still life using subjects he once painted. It was a huge success and the young artists in the room soaked up all the tips and tricks he employed and painted these beautiful paintings. They leant how to desaturate colour and create shadows, highlights and form using a limited palette. I was very moved by the results. None of them have painted a still life before or used watercolour.
