What a difference in the weather with storm Austen gone. A fabulous week being dry, mild leading into Halloween time.
If you haven’t seen our earlier post, Niall and I have definitely flipped upside down with the crazy notion of getting some cask ale from Devon, yeah I know what has happened to us🎃

So kicking our Halloween weekend off we have Patchwork rocket from Firebrand Brewing Co, Castle Gold from Tintagel Brewery, Cornish Best from Castle Brewery and our first intruder ale Hops & Dreams from Powderkeg Brewery from the dark side👻
Doors open 4pm today with live music from 7pm

This weekend we’ve got b**r from the other side of the border and on Thursday we’ve got music from the other side of a different border, it’s our regular Scottish night. Scrubbin’s Suitcase Stomp was very popular when he stomped through the Barrel earlier in the year and he’s back on Sunday from 6:00 pm. Monday is the first Monday of the month and that can only mean one thing - it’s James Dixon’s open mic. Always a great evening, great music and a welcoming atmosphere.

Halloween, Samhain, Allantide: whatever you call it, this is the night the veil between worlds grows thin… and things cross over from the other side.

This year, something has crossed the Tamar.

For one week only, two ales from Devon have found their way into our bar, standing alongside our Cornish favourites.

They come from Powderkeg Brewery:

Hops and Dreams: a tropical session IPA. �
Speak Easy: a session pale ale.

Both gluten-free, both vegan and both from the wrong side of the border.

Come and face them if you dare. By next week they'll have vanished back where they came from.

So with storm Austen on its way why not come and enjoy the 4 cask ales we have put on for you to start your weekend off.
Plenty of seating inside to get cosy to chat or listen to some vinyls.
So we have Kerdroya an amber from Castle Brewery also a firm favourite from Castle is Restormel Gold, Sir Lancelot pale ale from Tintagel Brewery and Meor IPA from St Ives brewery.

This Friday we have the Treehouse Band from 7:00. On Saturday we’re open as usual from 4:00 but we’re closing from 7:00 pm for a private party. Sunday evening sees C Bone returning as part of our Spare Peg Sessions. Should be a good one.

About to open up with 4 cask ales on tap. From Tintagel we’ve got Castle Gold and King Arthur’s. From St Ives we have Meor IPA and from Firebrand we have The Beast of Bodmin. Harry is kicking off a bit early tonight. Music from six, open from four. 🇮🇪🍻🍻🎶🎶🪗

The evenings are drawing in so it’s a perfect time to hunker down in a cosy pub and enjoy some great music. This weekend we’ve got Harry’s Irish session on Thursday and then the Barrel Tappers on Friday. On Sunday the very welcome return of Freya. Both guaranteed to add a bit of sunshine to our lives as we head into autumn.

What a treat we have for you all, 4 excellent ales kicking our weekend off and the added bonus is James Dixon is with us tonight from 7pm, yes performing not pouring pints as who knows what could happen if he was.

So we have Essential golden ale from Treen's Brewery, In Vein a stout, first time for this one from The Mine Brewing Company and a regulars favourite Azores pale ale from Atlantic Brewery also from Atlantic brewery we have Mr Fuggles which is a green hop b**r, with this one some of our regulars and Niall picked the very hops to brew this fantastic b**r.
