Beard and Sabre Cider Company

Beard and Sabre Cider Company At Beard & Sabre we are the champions of hopped cider, venerating our cidermaking ancestors we press Why has cider been left behind?

Beard & Sabre began in 2015 as an answer to the craft beer revolution. Often seen as a lower quality drink, it has struggled to compete with the image of other craft products. We set off to create ciders that not only respected the British cidermaking tradition, but to offer new and exciting cider concepts that are made with love and care, without the use of artificial flavourings or juice concent

rates. Tom and Angus, originally a Naval Officer and an Archaeologist, have experience in both CAMRA traditional cidermaking and corporate flavoured cidermaking – they discovered that 'craft' cidermaking belongs to neither. The path to a delicious, natural, craft drink lies where tradition meets vision – a foundation built on respect for heritage combined with natural craft ingenuity – hopped cidermaking through and through.

Let us not be sad at the sea for being wet, for rocks being sharp, or for cidergods being vengeful - Soon we will pass into January, meaning the Beard & Sabre has spanned a great 8 years. But all good things, must come to an end.

Passing through financial crisis to covid, to energy and cost of living crisis, it seems there has always been a 'thing', and we imagine there always will be.

It is with sadness we announce that we will be winding down affairs at Beard & Sabre, with intentions to dissolve over the coming months, storm after storm has torn our sails and weathered the hull.

We'd like to invite you all to our closing party, tonight at the taphouse - 7pm-Late. Please do join us if you may; BS1 5DQ.

Attached are a selection of pictures from our journey, some of you seeing this post will have joined us from the beginning, some at our transition from fruit to hopped cider, and some during our golden age at the tap.

Thanks to all who have supported us over the years, be that at Unit 2B/Cirencester where we founded in 2015, during the years we ran the Cirencester and later Clevedon twilight markets, post and past Somerset Cider Solutions, and in Bristol at our flagship venue.

Below are but a few pictures of the journey over the years, and the characters who helped create and mould the company from birth to death.

As always, praise be to the cidergods - for it is always their will.

🎵 Taphouse Sessions TONIGHT 🎵

With a voice and perspective that seems beyond his 27 years, and a collection of honest, heart felt songs that mirror and connect with an audience, Paul Armer is an Americana singer-songwriter that deserves to be heard. Taking inspiration from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Billy Strings, Johnny Cash and The Dead South, his sound resides where these influences meet.
