Congratulations to Jack Kempster on winning last weeks sub 55 average competition.

Kempster won 3 out of his 4 matches to finish top of group 2 on leg difference before heading into the knockout stages, where he would meet Tommy Llewellin in the last 16. The match was locked at 1-1, but it was Kempster who found another level when he needed it to claim a 2-1 victory and a spot in the quarter finals against Dexter Cornes. A close match up on paper, which saw Kempster go 1-0 up. Cornes gave it a good go - but Kempsters finishing proved the defining factor in a 2-0 win.

Onto the semi finals, and it was Rich Whiting who stood in the way of Kempster reaching the final. Whiting is improving week on week, and his impressive run was finally ended by Kempster in the semi finals.

Joining Kempster in the final was Jenson White, who defeated Emma Bennett, Matthew Winstone and Dann Jefferies on the other side of the draw.

Another tough one to call - and it was White who made the better start to take an early lead. The opportunity was then there for White to pick up the title - but Kempster stepped in to level it up and force the decider. It was anyone’s game at this point, but Kempster showed why he’s a multiple champion at this level - as he kept his cool to take out the 56 required and pick up his most recent title in a 2-1 win 🥇 👏

Congratulations to Matt Webb on winning last Tuesday nights sub 70 average round robin (apologies for the delay Matthew!)

Webb made a positive start to his title bid, winning 4 of his 5 matches to finish 2nd behind Joe Sellick in group 4 - and setup a last 16 clash with Sam Dyte. Webb made the better start, and Dyte did have the opportunity to level up early doors - but Webb stepped in to close the game out with a 114 checkout in a 3-0 win. In the last 8, Webb found himself 2-0 down to Liam Moore (averaging just shy of 100 at the time) but somehow got himself back in the match to get level, before taking the decider to confirm his spot in the semi finals against Glenn Pearce with a 3-2 win. This one also needed a deciding leg - but again it was Webb who held his nerve to book his spot in the final with another 3-2 win.

Joining Webb in the final was Dan Cornes - who defeated Josh Latham, Neil Broad and Joe Sellick along the way.

Both players made a reasonably good start, which saw Cornes take the opener. Webb quickly levelled up in 19, before Cornes restored his advantage at 2-1. Again, the perfect response from Webb - as he took leg 4 to deservedly force a 5th and deciding leg. There wasn’t much in it coming down, but 2 missed darts at double 18 for Cornes proved costly - as Webb kept his cool to find double 19 last dart in hand, and pick up his most recent title at the bar 👏 🏆
