Nestled perfectly in the warm belly of Hamilton House, The Canteen emerged in 2009 out of the creative inspiration and collective efforts of a bunch of Stokes Croft and Bristol brilliants. From day one we wanted to offer outstanding free live music, affordable homecooked food made with heaps of love and ingredients sourced as locally as we could manage and moreover we wanted to make a place for al

l to come, a hub, a hotspot, for it to take on it's own direction and to meet and serve the community that drives it forward. Now serving a totally vegetarian menu throughout the week and amazing vegan and veggie roasts on Sunday! It's generally about celebration, bring it down to the Canteen, and share it out. CGC Sound System are proud to announce a carnival special featuring Bristol roots/dub veterans: NEGUS MELODY!

CGC Sound System’s 2nd ever session was at Canteen for St Pauls Carnival 3 years ago! 3 Years later they’re back to help mark the occasion with Bristol roots/dub veterans: NEGUS MELODY!

Alongside Negus Melody (and as is tradition) CGC Sound System will be providing selections reaching into roots, dub, steppas and sound system music.

World cup fever at The Canteen! Celebrating music, culture and football. We encourage a safer space away from the rowdy sports bars.

Live bossanova with Zubieta & the Suaves before the game on Tuesday 23rd.

Day party on our terrace from 2pm on the 27th, with live music, DJs (including special guest snooker legend Steve Davis), host nation celebration trump pinata, BBF tap takeover, showing of the game (inside) and afterparty. What a day, we cannot wait!

Hosted by resident jesters Hot 'n' Soapy.

Get down early to guarantee good seats as no reservations. More games to be shown if we progress and can reprogram music around them.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK: 15TH – 21ST JUNE

This week we've got World Cup fever, Caribbean rhythms, ambient journeys and DJs carrying things into the night.

A few highlights:

WEDS 17 JUNE — Hot n' Soapy Present: England vs Croatia

The first England game of the World Cup gets the Hot n' Soapy treatment.

Expect pre-match fun, a screening on the indoor projector, and an afterparty once the final whistle blows. Plus BBF Gravity Pils for £5 all night.

SAT 20 JUNE — Kobo Town + DJ Tom Riley

Juno Award-winning collective Kobo Town bring their infectious blend of calypso, reggae, dub, ska, rapso and Caribbean rhythms to The Canteen.

Led by Trinidadian-Canadian songwriter Drew Gonsalves, the band have built an international reputation for transforming traditional calypso into something fresh, powerful and impossible not to move to.

Followed by DJ Tom Riley taking things late into the evening.

SUN 21 JUNE — Ambient Transmissions: Father's Day Special

Featuring Steve Davis and Vel Ilic.

Expect a carefully curated drift through ambient excursions, atmospheric electronics, hypnotic drones, cosmic frequencies and late-night sonic discoveries.

Then keeping the family theme alive, father-and-son duo DJ Beaton & DJ Gyrocopter take over until late.

Live music starts at 8:30PM Mon–Thurs.

Free Entry — Fri & Sat £6 after 9:30PM or when we hit capacity.

Round up! We are thrilled to introduce our new Gravity Jam Nights in collaboration with . Expect the same legendary jam nights, but with the hot new addition of £5 Gravity Pilsners. Rock on stage, shake your hips and clink your glasses of cheap, cheap beer.

The jams start at 8:30pm but we’re treating you to an extra hour of discounted Gravity Pils as you mingle, nibble and rehearse.
