Bridport and West Dorset Club

The Club has existed in its present building since the 1920’s and is a not for profit members club, run by a voluntary elected committee. It has a varied membership by way of age, gender and occupation. Membership ranges from people in their late teens to those well past retirement. Members meet in a peaceful, pleasant and mutually respectful manner which present day press reports would have us be

lieve was no longer possible. The Club has no political or religious affiliations. It is a free house with no fewer than two real ales at any time and normal range of other drinks. The premises provide a place free from excessively loud music and loutish behaviour, where members can chat, enjoy a drink, play snooker, cards, darts, pool, table and long alley skittles, take part in occasional quiz evenings, or quietly catch up on a little reading in the building or the enclosed beer garden at the back. The Club supports teams for most of the games played there, holds league fixtures and, subject to other commitments, is available for small private event hire. Located in the town centre, open in the evenings and with membership open to all on payment of a modest £15 annual fee the Club is a vital but often overlooked town asset. It too often is unnoticed due to its unassuming nature and the good manners of its members who do not inflict their recreational activities on the other evening visitors to the town centre.
