Quiz money update:

Thought that I'd give you all an update on what has happened to the charity money raised through our quizzes over the last 16 months.

Roger Evans, the quizmaster over the last 10 years was given the responsibility of distributing the sum of £2000 to worthy causes.

Firstly, £1000 was given to Cancer research UK on behalf of you all at the Cottage. Secondly, Renegades CC were the recipients of the other £1000. When the quiz started in 2016 it was simply to raise money for this Carnival club, as Roger co-founded the club back in the 60's and is the club President.

Thank you to everybody for continuing to visit the pub and all events that we put on up here. I know the hill is steep, we really appreciate all of your support.

A week before the world cup, so I expect Three lions, Vindaloo and all that from the locals. This is simply a fun night where everybody of all ages let their hair down. I just see smiles, and that's why we keep doing it.

It is with sadness that I have to announce that the monthly quiz here at the Cottage is now cancelled and will not be taking place on the last Tuesday of each month.

I cannot thank Roger enough for the time and hard work that he has put in here over the last 10 years, hosting almost 100 quiz nights, raising thousands for worthy causes. He has brought intelligence, humour and charm that has always got people coming back for more, time and time again.

But do not worry… For those that need a regular quizzing fix. You can still catch Roger hosting monthly at the West India house and Greenway farm quizzes.

In terms of money, you guys have raised £1966 since the last donation in December 2024. I think you will agree that Roger should choose and donate £2000 (nice round number) on your behalf to whichever charity he wishes. We will keep you informed on this.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and the bad news.
