Y FENNI - ABERGAVENNY

It was a badly-kept secret…Abergavenny!

We are officially moving into a new premises in Abergavenny. We have finally had planning permission approved and it’s all systems go at the new brewery/cidery! We are working behind the scenes at our new place just outside town.

Abergavenny has been our home since 2022 and we are very excited to continue our mission of diversifying rural areas in mid Wales. Our ethos stays the same: we want to showcase the fantastic produce Wales has to offer
by creating farmhouse beers and natural ciders that take the best from our Spanish-Welsh heritage.

Keep your eyes peeled, we are almost ready for you! 🛠️

We are delighted to share that we have been shortlisted again this year for the Wales Food and Drinks awards, this time for the Rising Star category!

It’s moments like this that really make us pause and realise how proud we are of how far we’ve come. The nomination recognises not only Sobremesa Drinks as a whole, but especially Adrián’s resilience, innovation and success.

Also, it’s not that often in life that you see your name on the same list as .wyn.jones … 😯

End of a chapter!

As many of you will know, we have some exciting news to share. Sobremesa Drinks is moving!

We are eternally grateful for what Talgarth has given us: a chance to build our business from a tiny seed of an idea in Adrián’s head, beautiful surroundings that made a hard job much easier, an opportunity to run a campsite (we couldn’t resist) and most of all an amazing community that has supported us through the good times and the bad.

The Tap Room quickly became our second home (complete of course with a Tap Room baby) and we feel privileged to have shared that space with our friends from Talgarth and further afield.

When we arrived to Lower Porthamel in 2021 we knew no one, and instead of feeling like outsiders to the rural world we were immediately welcomed. We are so lucky to have gained life long friends from our favourite place at the foot of the Black Mountains.

As the farm is being sold and we are quickly running out of space, we are in the process of relocating to another farm in order to continue our mission of building businesses in rural Wales, diversifying farms and crafting farmhouse beers and natural ciders.

Talgarth - it’s not an “adiós” but only a “hasta luego”!

Diolch am bopeth.

We cannot wait to show you what we have lined up for you in our new location 👀

Watch this space and we look forward to seeing you!

This weekend we are so excited to be back in East London at Old Spitafields Market to celebrate St David’s Day.

Revisiting the place we used to call home (East London) to celebrate the culture and produce of our current home (Wales), with produce inspired by our Spanish background, feels like one of those full circle moments that only come along once in a while.

So come and say shwmae! We’ll be selling our farmhouse beers and natural ciders, straight from rural Wales to your glass!

We have been doing what we like the most: sharing, learning and meeting people from the cider community across the world, from the States to Chile!

It was also incredible to see David again and Fran from .We visited them when Sobremesa was just an idea in our mind, and they have always been an inspiration and a model to follow and they are always there to support us. We’ll see you next time in Asturias!

We have also managed to win a couple of medals at the competition at the

As part of this trip we have been visiting some of our friends’ cideries in the Basque country, who were visiting Wales a week ago.
It was truly special catching up with them at their homes, showing us the tradition and passion behind the Basque cider but also seeing the new generations taking steps towards innovation

Special mention to and Hazi for making it happen and for connecting two countries that have a lot on common.

Last week we welcomed a delegation of Basque cider makers to Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
It was incredible to share the same passion for a product that relies completely on the land and the terroir of the orchard.
Despite the differences in landscape and apples, we share the same ethos. We are proud to create a product that joins tradition, heritage and innovation but also without forgetting our connection to the land, the heritage, the culture and the language.
A massive thanks to all the apple growers and producers that showed us around. You are putting Wales on the map as a top cider destination.

Eskerrik asko gure etxera gerturatu zineten Euskadiko ekoizle guztiei. Plazer handia izan zen esperientziak elkarbanatzea eta zuen ahotik, Euskal sagardoaren etorkizun oparoa ezagutzea.

Last week the Sobremesa team travelled to France and Belgium to visit some inspirational brewers.
We are proud of our own house yeast, Rosalind, so it was amazing to connect with other brewers who hold the same passion.
We saw first hand how other producers work with their yeast and raw materials, and of course we got to taste some spectacular beers!
Thank you to , for your hospitality and expertise!

New release! Our new Belgian Wit beer that captures the essence of the West Coast of Cymru.

Using Welsh Heritage wheat Hen Gymro grown by Nant-y-Bach farm on the Ceredigion coast line.

For the occasion we have collaborated with based in St Davis, Pembrokeshire. They are the first community-owned regenerative ocean farm in Wales. They cultivate versatile crops like seaweed with zero-input techniques using methods that promote biodiversity without the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides or freshwater.

We have used their Welsh Oarweed to produce a hazy wheat beer with savoury and salty hints from Pembrokeshire-grown seaweed. Fermented with Belgian Haze from , a true Belgian wit strain

Available from the web shop at midday and to trade from next week

Enjoy the taste of our maritime terroir!
