Hoppy updates from Stocks Farm, Worcestershire! 🌱☀️🌧️
Richard and Ali Capper have been busy dealing with the mixed weather we've experienced over the last few weeks. We've had rain, sunshine and strong winds all in a single day, but despite the conditions, every variety is looking fantastic.

Some great news for the hop industry! 🌱

Our Technical Director, Will Rogers, recently visited Warwick University's new plant disease testing facilities.

Made possible through Warwick's BBSRC Flexible Talent Mobility Account funding, and the hard work of Vongai Chekanai and Professor John Clarkson, these facilities will help drive a greater understanding of plant diseases affecting both new and established hop varieties.

This exciting development will support future research and help strengthen the resilience of the hop industry. 🍻

More updates from the hop yards, because we know you love them! 🌱💚

This time, we're catching up with Jimmy Barrett, an award-winning hop grower from Herefordshire.
Last week, Jimmy had been out in the yards applying chicken manure as a natural fertiliser. Rich in essential nutrients, it helps promote healthy plant growth, strengthen root development, and improve soil health. By using a natural waste product, growers can reduce their reliance on artificial fertilisers and improve hop growth at the same time, a win-win!

As the growing season comes into full swing, there's plenty more updates to come. Stay tuned for more hoppy updates! 🍻

Our New Zealand hop selection roadshow rolled into Swansea today, with BeerRiff Brewery & Taproom hosting the second event in the series.

Brewers had the chance to get hands-on with 28 hop samples across five New Zealand varieties, comparing batches side-by-side and exploring the incredible range of aromas and flavours available from the latest crop.

From punchy tropical fruit and citrus through to stone fruit, resin, and complex hop character, the room was filled with discussion, debate, and plenty of sensory discovery.

For some breweries, it was an opportunity to select specific hop batches for consistency and production planning. For others, it was a chance to enjoy the new crop and find inspiration for future seasonal and limited-edition brews.

A huge thank you to Beer Riff for hosting and to everyone who joined us for another fantastic session. We’re looking forward to the next event in the series.

What a turn out!

Yesterday we welcomed brewers to Left Handed Giant Brewing Co. for a sensory session with the latest New Zealand hop crop from the NZ Hops Co-operative.

With 28 hop samples across five New Zealand varieties, brewers had the opportunity to assess batch-to-batch differences and make batch selections that support recipe consistency, production planning, and hop specification alignment throughout the 2026 crop year.

The 'aroma room' was packed with everything from vibrant tropical fruit and citrus notes to layers of stone fruit, resin, and more complex varietal character. Sampling multiple batches side-by-side allowed brewers to find inspiration and to identify the batches best suited to their beers, brands, and brewing goals.

For breweries focused on consistency, batch selection is a valuable way to reduce raw material variability and secure the hop batches that will deliver the flavour profile they're looking for throughout the year.

For those not batch selecting, the session provided a great opportunity to evaluate the new crop and find inspiration from the variety personalities. Contemplating what could be used in seasonal releases, limited editions, and less batch-critical brews.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, shared their expertise, and helped make it such a valuable and engaging afternoon of hop evaluation, discussion, and discovery.
