Whew! What a summer…

Thank you to all of you lovely folk who walked/ cycled/ boated/ trained out to us

With the weather cooling and the long-awaited rain finally here, we are now closing The Shack for the winter months. The bar remains open for 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps - or whatever your tipple….

For more substantial food, do visit our neighbours No.10 Tea Garden / Bradford on Avon / near Bath or enjoy a stroll along the river to our sister pub The Inn at Freshford

We will be closing our doors for the season on 2 November, reopening both The Shack and the bar in Spring 2027.

REOPENING DATE CONFIRMED 8 MAY 2026

We are thrilled to be reopened The Cross Guns for the summer season on 8 May 2026.

Order your drinks in the pub (11:00 - 20:00 Weds, Thurs & Sun; 11:00-21:00 Fri & Sat) and food from the deli shack (11:30-19:00 Weds - Sun) on the terrace.

The pub kitchen will be out of action for the season (see below) so we are unable to take table bookings. Instead, all food will be ordered and served from the Deli Shack on the terrace.

RESTORATION UPDATE
The retaining wall to the kitchen in the pub, revealed when the asbestos stud wall was removed, is in need of major repair. It has been assessed by engineers and we are awaiting their report and recommendations for a long term repair and solution. This will also require listed building consent and we intend to carry out the necessary works over the winter months whilst we continue to restore the building back to its former glories.

In the meantime, we are unable to use the pub kitchen, so a limited food menu will instead be served from the Deli Shack for this season. This means we are unable to take reservations.
