Sad News - Bolton's Axe Throwing Comedy Club & Smokehouse BBQ Closure
It’s with an extremely heavy heart I must announce that Real Axe must close as of Monday 09th January 2023 – possibally the worst time ever to open such a great venue - opening in October 2019 followed by Covid closures and the relentless barrage of hurdles that followed.
With only one real year of uninterrupted trading Real Axe hugely outperformed our expectations and forecast but it just wasn’t enough to trade through the covid debt.
The last three years have been a real struggle and unfortunately, we have been forced to close. I’m so sorry if the closure affects you in any way – this was never intentional.
It’s extremely important to us for all to understand, we have put everything into this great project and its heart breaking to close what has brought so much joy to so many. One of the administrators tasks will be trying sell Real Axe as a package so maybe there is a glimmer of hope.
It’s important to me to thank:
Our Customers – We have axe coached and fed over 50,000 lunatics, every one of which it was a great pleasure, and without you guys wouldn’t have been able to last this long.
Our Staff – Real Axe didn’t have employees, more like members of a wonderful family, all of which were super professional to the very end, and when told the terrible news, every single one showed concern for others rather than themselves.
Landlord – The landlord has been great throughout this difficult time – I knew we had a good one after a difficult start in 2019 and he chopped down a Christmas tree from his own garden to brighten up the venue and remained supportive to the very end.
Frog & Bucket – Jessica at the Frog was responsible for organising all our 24 sell out comedy nights at Real Axe. I’d like to think these shows brought a little light into people’s lives during some tough times.
