This is one of the saddest updates weโve had to write for a while (& God knows thereโs been a few)
We cannot open this weekend ( and possibly many more) due to staff shortages. We have been incredibly let down by our previous furloughed staff members who have decided not to return to work since we have opened. This has left us in such a difficult position.
As you know, we have been continuing to renovate and complete the building to begin the next stage of our journey and this last year has tried every inch of our strength. To be let down by staff has taken another incredible toll on us and as a small family business we just cannot go on in the same way.
Recruiting new experienced staff has proved impossible and as with the majority of hospitality businesses, now we have to fight even harder than during the lockdowns.
Continued restrictions mean business is still hard and extra pressure on staff is just making it such a difficult time.
Chris and I especially cannot work anymore hours in a week, the toll is just too much.
We need to say, Our remaining staff (some old, some new; all amazing) are doing their best for us and we are hugely grateful. We promise to do our best to keep them busy.
But it is time to be honest. Alongside the renovation costs, opening without enough staff is too much of a risk and a stress. Our standards are high and our service premium and we canโt let this slide.
We will not open this weekend (25/26 June) and will play each week best we can. Those with events booked in, donโt worry there are planned for.
So apologies that we canโt welcome you this weekend. And sorry to those who we have not been able to book in for dates they wanted.
We are doing our best and we have the long game in mind but please accept our honesty and our apologies.
To all our hospitality colleagues fighting the grind, keep going! You got this!
Thanks Chris & Rebecca
