So we now have a table arcade machine! Again, like the pool table, FREE to play to paying customers of the pub as it was again bought with the extra money raised from the beer raffle we hold every week. This will ALWAYS go back into the pub for the benefit of customers 😊👍🏻

NATIONAL PUB DAY

This year The Telegraph has been campaigning to save Britain's pubs, chronicling the economic pressures crippling the hospitality industry as an average of four pubs per day close in 2026.

The Telegraph has created National Pub Day to celebrate the essential role pubs play in local life and attract people back into local pubs. For communities up and down the country, pubs remain at the heart of local life, providing a place to meet with family and friends or enjoy a quiet drink at the end of a long day.

To mark the celebration, The Telegraph has teamed up with Renegade Brewery to create its own 'Telegraph Ale', a classic English bitter. This limited-edition brew will be served at 300 pubs across the country on 16 May and we have been chosen as one of them!

A few pics of the new decor, starting to really come together now as the little touches are being slowly added, feeling a lot cosier and welcoming now I think. Again HUGE thanks to all those that helped achieve this, you know who you are ❤️

**UPDATE**

All decorating was going well until I decided to try and put up some curtains on Saturday night around 10.30pm and took a nosedive after the table I was part standing on tipped up 🤦🏻‍♀️ Landed on the side of the upturned table on my thigh which is heavily bruised and hit the deck on my shoulder which has delayed things somewhat. BUT I think we're just about there! Some cleaning to do but WE WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW AT 3PM!

That's the good news, the bad news is that suppliers have all notified me of price increases from 1st Feb due to Government increase in alcohol duty so I'm afraid there will have to be a small increase in prices 😢

As you can see I'm on my way home finally! The decorating, I understand, is going well. MASSIVE thanks to those who have and are helping, you will get your reward in heaven (or more likely in beer/prosecco/vodka). This is what I love about The Anchor, the COMMUNITY. I'm not sure we'll be open for weekend though, I'd rather it was all done completely than half arsed, so keep an eye on here or ear to the grapevine for further updates.

**Important notice**
Some of you already know, but I have to go to Jersey for a court case which starts on Monday 12th January. I have taken the decision to close the pub for at least that week that I have to be there, for a number of reasons but not least so that I don't have to worry about things here whilst over in Jersey. But it's also gives the opportunity to get some painting/redecorating done which I've planned and wanted to do for a while. How quickly this is done determines when the place reopens so if anyone wants to volunteer to help in exchange for a few beers (big thanks to those who already have) it would be much appreciated.
