A very good English Windsor armchair, c.1820–1840, with a beautifully figured elm seat and ash frame.

Exceptionally well made, with a tall bowed back, fine spindles, shaped arms and elegant turned legs. Stands sturdy and strong.

It also has a very beautiful warm colour and swirling grain , with honest natural wear throughout.

A fine mid 19th century walnut Italian console / serving table. Beautifully proportioned with two generous drawers, elegant turned legs and original brass castors.

The walnut has a rich, warm colour and excellent naturally aged patina.

At 165cm long, it is a handsome and useful table — equally good as a console, serving table or a writing table.

In very good antique condition - the drawers and castors run smoothly , the table is solid.

Please take my word for it , this table is a real beauty - but we found it quite difficult on the day of the photo shoot to get the right angle and show the really generous proportions.
We also use natural light and I remember it being a stormy, rainy dark day that day.

Anyway, here she is -

A large and glorious late 19th century Italian farmhouse table in pine, with generous proportions and an exceptional naturally aged surface.

The broad plank top has a wonderful dry-as-a-bone texture and colour, worn over generations to a soft, pale finish. Knocks, marks and gentle irregularities remain across the surface, giving the table the softness that only comes with genuine age and use.

Simple tapered legs and a single central drawer keep the form uncomplicated. At 105cm wide, it is particularly generous for an old farmhouse table, giving plenty of room for serving dishes down the centre while comfortably seating people on either side.

It is the pale colour, the bone-dry surface and softness of the old pine that make this table special — simple, handsome and extremely usable.

A rare British folk art marriage chest, dated 1766 and carved with the initials W P, paired hearts, birds and extraordinary radiating sun motifs.

Made in solid elm, with original ironwork and centuries of wear, a remarkable survivor of 18th-century vernacular life.

A traditional six-plank construction, the coffer is made from substantial elm boards - the simple primitive form is brought to life by the extraordinary carved façade.

The front is boldly decorated with a wonderful collection of naïve symbols: birds, hearts and large radiating circular motifs, together with the initials W P and the date 1766. The hearts naturally suggest love and marriage, while the birds and sun-like motifs may have carried associations with fertility, prosperity, protection or the continuation of family life.

What makes this coffer so special is not simply its age, but that something so personal, primitive and individual has survived since 1766. A truly authentic piece of British vernacular furniture and folk art.

A rare, exceptionally well-crafted and highly sculptural Swedish armchair, dating from the 1940s–50s and surviving in outstanding original condition.

Made from stained beech, the chair combines a sweeping bentwood arm rail with fine radiating spindles, a separately framed cane back and an original hand-woven split-cane seat. This highly skilled technique produces a resilient, lightweight surface - the fine weave beautifully complements the delicate spindle construction. A second pair of slender rails beneath the curved arms adds depth and definition to its sculptural form.

An exceptional Scandinavian chair, bringing together bentwood, Windsor and traditional split-caning techniques with considerable skill and originality.

A handsome late Victorian English open armchair, c.1880–1900.

With a tall, deep-buttoned back, softly rolled arms and beautifully turned and fluted walnut front legs, set on original brass and ceramic castors.

Recently traditionally re-upholstered and finished in fire-retardant barrier cloth, it is now ready for your own fabric.

A beautifully made French mid-century occasional table, turned from solid elm.

Originally known as a ‘tables de fumeur’, it was designed to sit neatly beside an armchair. The small dished top, slender pedestal and broad circular base give this useful little table a wonderfully sculptural quality.

A rare Italian monoxyl oak table with a monumental single-slab top hewn from a magnificent tree.

Rich in colour and character, the timber has exceptional grain, natural movement and a beautifully worn surface developed over centuries of use. The monumental slab is supported by solid trestle ends , joined by a hefty pegged stretcher.

The substantial original hand-forged iron bolts are a testament to the quality of the original construction, securing the top to the base.

This is a remarkable piece of Italian vernacular furniture , Incredibly difficult to find, - worth all the effort to bring it to back T&H.

A Chestnut Mountain Table from the Catalan Region.

Late 18th century rustic chestnut side table with one drawer and original iron ring pull.

A sturdy, well balanced little table , with a beautiful rich patina and lots of character. The decorative , soft scalloped detailing to the frieze elevates it perfectly.

A very fine English elm & ash Windsor armchair - Circa 1820 - 1840

An exceptionally well-made chair with particularly good proportions. The tall bowed back is filled with slender spindles above and below the shaped arm rail - the chair is open and elegant.

The sweeping arms are supported on curved uprights, the turned front legs and shaped stretchers complete a beautifully balanced frame.

The broad elm seat off the scale , with an extraordinary swirling figured grain running across the surface.
The rich, warm honey and to***co colour , running through to deep brown is so beautiful.
The arms, spindles and bow have the same natural softness, where the darker surface has worn back to reveal the lighter ash beneath.

Most probably made within the Thames Valley / Buckinghamshire Windsor tradition, where elm was favoured for the seat and strong, flexible ash for the turned and bent components.

In excellent condition for its age and standing very well 👌
