Dear Chichester Walkers

I shall lead a walk up Amberley Down next Sunday 14/06. I last led this walk in May last year.

Would participants please meet me in the (Free) Public Car park on the corner of School Road and the B2139. I don't have a postcode for the car park but the the C of E Primary School next to it has the postcode BN18 9NB.

I shall start the walk at 11 am from the car park. The walking distance is under 4 miles but there will be some steep slopes to climb at times. Unless it's very cloudy there will be good views of the river Arun and surroundings when we get to the high point near some ancient burial mounds. There may be sheep grazing in the field next to our path. We shall go as far as a trig point and then return the way we went up.

Roy Shuttleworth has kindly booked seven lunch places at the Sportsman Inn, BN18 9NR at 1.15 pm.
He will be able to advise further.

Would walkers please let me know if they intend to join the walk on [email protected] and if they would like to have lunch at the Sportsman send a copy of the email to Roy at [email protected]

Many Thanks and Regards
Dev

Please contact the leaders if you are planning to join the walk on Sunday, as it is already full and there won't be enough parking space. Thank you 😊

Very pleasant walk around West Dean today, followed by a great lunch at The Selsey Arms 😋

Enjoyed the most beautiful walk around Hayling Island, including a stretch of the King Charles III Coastal path along the water's edge, with oyster beds and nesting terns. Weather was perfect too.

North Hayling Walk Monday 4/5/26

Hello Chichester Walkers

I shall lead a walk on Hayling Island which is a variation of the one I led last October. It will start and finish at the free public car park on Northney Road, Hayling Island, PO11 0ND.

The car park is small but there is more free car parking available on Northney Road. The walking distance is about 4.5 miles and it's on flat terrain. We will be in fields some of the way, on the Hayling Billy trail for a while and will pass some old oyster beds. There are three stiles to negotiate.

I have booked a table (or tables perhaps) for 12 people at the Northney Tea Rooms St Peters Road, PO11 0RX at 1.30 pm. I'll tell you how to get there on the day. It is half a mile or so from the car park. Well behaved dogs are allowed at the tea Rooms which serve snacks as well as lunch and alcohol.

The start time for the walk is 11 am but I shall get there earlier. If you come along Northney Road from Hayling Bridge the car park is on the left just after a cluster of houses but not well sign-posted. There are height limits - cars are OK; but vans aren't. Northney Road zigzags so please watch your speed.

I would like to know who is coming on the walk and definitely so if one intends to stay for lunch or even just a snack or drink. To contact me please use [email protected].

I look forward to seeing everybody on Monday.

Regards
Dev

As we now have 41 people joining the walk on Easter Monday, we have reached the maximum number we can allow on this occasion. This is for health and safety reasons, given that whichever route we decide, there will be a bit of road walking, which might prove dangerous with any more people.
