We had a fantastic time on adventure camp! 3 days of non stop adventure, fun & friendship for our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & volunteer Leaders! Plus it was fab that Camelford Cubs could join us on our Devon adventure too. Abseiling, vertical challenges, canoeing, sensory trails, silent disco’s, giant swings & so much more. The final camp of 2026 & what a great one to finish on. We are super proud of all of our members who really challenged themselves over the weekend, as always thanks to all of our volunteer Leaders for giving up their time but a special thanks to Akela for organising such a fab trip! Until the next one….

We’ve had a fab day on adventure camp the Beavers, Cubs & Scouts have been Canoeing, undertaken a high ropes vertical challenge, did lots of fun problem solving activities, buggy building, games & a not so silent disco too! 🤗⚜️

Yesterday evening some of the Beavers, Cubs & Scouts left in great spirits for adventure camp! Camelford Cubs have also joined us for the adventure. We have a busy weekend of activities ahead starting today with Canoeing, vertical challenge, problem solving & buggy building! 🤗⚜️

This weekend our Scout section had a fab time on District Winter Camp with 170 Scouts & Explorer Scouts (including our affiliated Explorer Unit - Mabyn An Gwella) from all over North Cornwall. It was a busy but fun weekend of climbing, archery, r***e shooting, team challenges etc! A massive thank you to our amazing volunteers for giving up their time. ⚜️🤗⛺️

Beavers this week are finishing off some of our challenge badge work . Cooking something from a different country, and they chose Pizza !
Then an opportunity to do a little geography with a world map - each of them finding a different country.

Rebuilding the bug hotel tonight for the Beavers, looking good the bugs will be very cosy. And of course we ticked off another of the 40 challenge and found 40 bugsto live in it.

My favourite moment as Chief Scout was watching the most nervous kid in the room make their promise.

You can always spot them. Shy, uncertain, convinced they do not belong, hovering at the edge of the group with their eyes fixed on their shoes.

Then they say the words, and someone ties that little scarf, the necker, around their neck. And something changes in them. Perhaps for the first time, a child who felt invisible is told, clearly, you belong here. You are one of us. We are glad you came.

I have watched that small moment set a kid on a completely different path in life. Children who had been written off, never picked for anything, suddenly standing a little taller.

It costs us so little to make a young person feel they matter. A word. A bit of belief. Showing up when nobody else did. And yet that tiny investment can quietly reshape an entire life.

Somebody did exactly that for me once, when I was a lost and unremarkable boy. It is a large part of why I am who I am today.

We so badly underestimate the power we hold to change a young life with the smallest act of belief.

A few of our Cubs had a fab time on District camp this last weekend, activities included wide games, mini pioneering, climbing, archery, r***e shooting, adventure course, craft & a human version of Monopoly to name but a few. Plus we celebrated the Cub Scouts 110th birthday too. The Cubs were amazing and thanks to all of the volunteer leaders that helped make this camp happen. ⚜️🏕️ Fun times
