Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s public meeting — over 54 people turned out, despite the cold and short notice, to take part in the discussion.
It was reported at the meeting that a potential buyer has submitted an offer for The Hambro, and the agent has indicated that Admiral Taverns would be mindful to accept. The prospective buyer has expressed a wish to liaise with the steering group, but unfortunately prior commitments meant this was not possible before the 5 January deadline.
During the discussion, it was clear that the community wishes to see the Hambro re-open as soon as possibe and does not want to risk delaying a potential sale. A ballot was taken, with a resounding 50 votes in favour of not invoking the ACV moratorium.
The steering group will continue to liaise with the agent and will share updates with the community as progress arises. Thank you again to everyone who came along at the last minute and supported this open, democratic process — your involvement truly matters.

Thank you to everyone who completed the community questionnaire on the future of The Hambro. Here’s what you told us:

🍺 The Hambro matters
An overwhelming majority said it is very important that The Hambro continues to operate as a public house.

👥 Support goes beyond regular users
Many respondents don’t visit weekly, but still value the pub as a vital part of village life.

🛡️ Protecting the future feels important
Most people support taking steps to secure The Hambro’s future, including use of the ACV moratorium — either as a protective measure in itself or where a realistic community option exists.

🤝 Different views, shared goal
While opinions vary on ownership and next steps, there is strong agreement on one thing: The Hambro should remain a pub for the community.

As the year draws to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged and engaged with the journey so far.
2025 has been a big year.
Behind the scenes there’s been a huge amount of work:
• Building a strong steering group
• Exploring what a community-run Hambro could truly offer
• Listening carefully to what matters most to residents, friends and neighbouring villages
All of this has led us to a pivotal moment.
👉 What happens in 2026 is now firmly in the hands of the community.
The response to Questionnaire 2 will help determine whether a community venture has the strength, backing and momentum to move forward — and the outcome really does matter.
⏰ With a short deadline and big implications, every response counts.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to share their views so far — 185 respondents as of 27 November 2025. Your feedback is helping shape the future of The Hambro, and it’s clear just how much this place means to Milton Abbas.
