Nothing pairs better with Halloween than a historic pub, a pint by the fire and an old ghost story.

Rumoured to be one of the most haunted hotels in Dorset, Crown Hotel Blandford is home to a few ghostly regulars.

Legend tells of an 18th century highwayman who was shot dead during an attempted heist, and a mysterious woman in a black crinoline dress who has been said to walk the first-floor corridors.

They do say some guests never leave... although with roaring fires, good food and a warm welcome, we can see why.

As British Summer Time officially comes to an end today, we’re saying goodbye to another incredible summer season ☀️.

A huge thank you to our amazing teams who worked tirelessly to make it a season to remember, and to every single guest who made memories with us over the past few months.

We're passionate about great food and even greater talent. In partnership with four top colleges across the South of England, Hall & Woodhouse has launched a bespoke chef apprenticeship scheme designed to build long-term, rewarding careers in hospitality.

Our Level 3 (Senior) Production Chef Apprenticeship combines hands-on kitchen experience with practical training tailored directly to our very own menus. From trainee chefs to head chefs, the program covers every aspect of running a professional kitchen, supported by monthly college masterclasses focused on our signature dishes.

A huge highlight from last month was our Reading College Apprentice Takeover Evening. Guests gathered to celebrate our graduating apprentices as they showcased their skills cooking everyone a special meal. We spoke to Jill, our Head of Recruitment & Immigration, who organised and attended the special event.
