Who's tried our new whisky? We've brought in more stock from the bonded warehouse, so it's available again at the brewery shop and the Perth pub, or you can order online for free UK & IoM delivery.

Our new dram was aged in casks previously used to create our Ancient Amber beer, considered at the time as the single best barrel aged beer produced in Scotland, as judged by the UK's largest beer & brewing trade body - SIBA.

Bottled at 50%, the spirit was distilled at Glen Spey Distillery in 2016 - the same year Wasted Degrees began - and then aged for 10 years under the stewardship of globally renowned Perthshire brand Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. The spirit spent its final two years in the same oak casks previously used to age our Ancient Amber beer.

Limited to only 456 bottles. After that, it's gone forever.

Who likes a bargain? Look what we found squirrelled away in a warehouse, the last of their kind: it's the final few cases of Amber Sunrise. Yours for just £1.55 per 330ml can.

This is one iteration of our seasonal amber spruce brew, a malt-forward beer with both hops and local spruce tips. A sweeter profile, tastes like Cherry Bakewell tarts and malted milk biscuits. The spruce tips were sustainably harvested locally by hand from trees nearby Blair Castle, under the supervision & guidance of a countryside ranger.

Available while stocks last: online, at the brewery and at the pub.

If you're new to visiting any of our physical locations, here's a wee insight into just some of the things we care about 'beyond the beer'.

Wasted Degrees is a multi-award winning signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and we're also a part of the Blue Light scheme. Both are inspired by family service & sacrifice in various branches of frontline service.

If you work in any of the UK's frontline services, we proudly offer you a discount at our pub, brewery shop and brewery taproom. Our way of thanking you for the work you do in our local community and further afield across the UK and abroad.

Show us your Armed Forces ID card, Veteran ID card, Blue Light card or Defence Discount Service card to receive a discount on purchases of food, drink and merchandise at any of our physical locations. [not available online]

Did you know we planted an orchard at our local hospital, or that we release a beer every Remembrance to raise money for the Poppy Appeal? Find out what else we get up to 'beyond the beer' on our website: https://www.wasteddegrees.com/community

You might remember our post from a few weeks back about growing hops in Perthshire... well, the weather was kind... it's harvest time!

Check out these fresh Saaz hops, grown in Pitlochry. Saaz is the main hop variety used in our Pilsner recipe. It's by no means a huge volume, but it's a bit of fun and will be an interesting addition to a fresh batch of beer in the weeks ahead. Alongside our Perthshire-grown barley, you won't get much more local!

Why don't we see more Scottish hops? They're actually a relatively recent thing in Scottish beer... typical Scottish weather makes commercial hop growing in Scotland a bit risky 😅 Even until the 19th century, a good deal of Scottish beer was still only brewed with locally sourced flavour-driving ingredients like heather, spruce, bog myrtle. With the industrial revolution and farming & packaging technologies improving, hops eventually became more widely distributed from further south and, eventually, internationally.

Maybe a Perthshire hop exclusive heading to the pub soon... 😉

This Sunday from 12:00 at the Perth pub: it's hotdogs on the menu, just £6.25 including your choice of as many toppings as you'd like! 🌭

GF and vegan friendly options available too. And you can just turn up at the pub, there's no tables bookings here 👍

Across the first three Sundays in September, we're trying out three different types of scran, one on each Sunday: charcuterie was last weekend, it's hotdogs this Sunday, followed by BBQ buns on the 20th.

Beyond trying some different scran options, this is also about giving the wider Wasted Degrees team an opportunity to put forward their skills & creativity.

See you at the pub 🍻 Who's coming?

You lot are fair getting into the kegs of wine!

Wasted Degrees Perth pub pours some of the freshest, most vibrant and pristine wine going, drawn direct from specialist wine kegs. Sourced from renowned wine importer L'Art Du Vin, we were originally introduced to these kegs by Michelin Key winning restaurant Ballintaggart.

So, the pub takes its wines as seriously as its beers 😉🍷

Starting from just £4.30 a glass, we serve small / medium / large measures and also by the carafe. Here's what's on tap:

RED: a Tempranillo from Viña Albergada, Rioja region, Spain. Bold and tannic, moderate acidity.

WHITE: a Vinho Verde from Villa Nova, Portugal. Floral, citrus, medium-dry with ripe melon and sherbet lemon, gentle acidity.

FIZZ: Adria Vini Frizzante, Italy. Produced inthe Monferrato hills of Piemonte. Balanced and bright.

ROSÉ: Espadeiro by Villa Nova, Portugal. Strawberry and redcurrant, medium-dry.

SPECIAL: an in vogue Orange wine from Château Saint-Cyrguess, Côtes-du-Rhone, France. A prominent juicy peach and notes
of blossom.

We also have some specials in bottle too - have a chat with Fiona and Paige at the bar to explore what's on offer. Cheers! 🥂🍇

Special new beer alert 🚨 Brewed as a special release to celebrate our 10th birthday, our new Double IPA is now live! Limited to just 2,973 cans and 20 kegs (the latter pouring exclusively at our pub and taproom) don't miss out... or you'll have to wait for the 20th anniversary 😉

A full bodied hazy pale, brewed to 7.5% with local barley grown by our pal and chief barley wrangler Crawford Farms at Gloagburn, yeast from our pals Leif and Øystein at Kveik Yeastery in Norway, plus Cascade, Amarillo and Galaxy hops. Anyone recognise the designs around the bottom of the label... a throwback to many of the beers we've made these past 10 years 🍻 Can you guess any of them?

Wasted Degrees began in August 2016 with little more than a homebrew kit in Mum & Dad's garage. Grown under its own steam, built on hard work, sacrifice, challenges, successes, risk, joy. Where we are today is in no small part thanks to family, friends andcommunity. You believe in us, support us and champion us: things we're ever grateful for and hold front of mind every dayand in each decision we make. Now Perthshire's largest brewery, Wasted Degrees remains locally owned and independent. From the garage to 13 countries, our beers have proudly flown the flag of where we come from and what we stand for. What we've brewed is a drop; what we'll go on to brew is an ocean.

🍎 It’s that time of year again: calling all Perthshire apple growers!

The eighth annual Wasted Degrees community cider project is now ready to receive ripe apples.

Please read the important notes below before gathering your fruit.

RIPE? Your apples must be ripe: check by slicing one open, the seeds should be a dark brown.

CONDITION: Your apples don't need to be show winning in appearance, but their condition must be good enough to eat. It is crucial that you do not bring damaged or bruised fruit, as these can spoil in the days between drop-off and pulping.

DROP OFF: bring your apples to our brewery in Blair Atholl between 1st September - 9th October, Monday - Friday only, 08:30 - 16:00.

BEVVY IN EXCHANGE: For every 10kg, receive a can of beer (on the day) or cider (when it’s ready) in return.
PERTH PUB: please note that the pub will NOT be accepting apples, as they can't be suitably stored there before onward transportation to the brewery.

Together with our local community, we've made around 10,000 litres of cider since 2019, saving over 21 tons of fresh-surplus locally grown fruit from going to waste. And no nutritional value is wasted, as all the pulp is fed to local livestock.

We mature our Perthshire cider slowly, at low temperature, right through the winter. It'll hit the shelves in cans in/around February 2027 and will be poured on draught at the pub from then too and at the Taproom from March 2027.

Who's with us?
Please like and share to spread the word. Thank you 🍏
