We are truly sorry to hear about what happened, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident. Violence like this has no place in Blackpool nightlife.
But we also want Blackpool Police to make a public statement about the people involved in the incident, not just about closing venues. The public deserves to know what action has been taken against the individuals responsible, including the person who used the knife.
We would all like to feel safe on nights out, but how can people feel safe if those involved are still out partying in other venues a month after the incident? There are also serious questions about security and how someone was allegedly able to enter a venue with a knife in the first place.
If incidents like this continue happening across Blackpool, then how exactly are nights being made safer by shutting down one small venue? It feels like too much focus is being placed on making an example of a smaller business instead of properly dealing with the people responsible for the violence and the wider safety issues happening across the town.
We also think it’s important for Blackpool Police to explain how they are supporting events and venues to improve safety and help prevent incidents like this from happening again. Everyone wants safer nights out, but that means working together with venues, security, and the community, while also making sure the individuals responsible are properly dealt with
