Acoustic Club: Bishop Stortford

Acoustic Club: Bishop Stortford Join us on fairly regular Thursday night's at South Mill Arts Centre, Bishop Stortford for an evening of music We also like to Showcase the very best.

Since Keef Jackman and Drew Bonnington founded Bishops Stortford Acoustic Club in 2002, there has been an enormous change in live music, not only in Bishops Stortford and the surrounding area but generally over the whole country. Places that would never have thought of having an acoustic evening are springing up all around. There has never been a better opportunity for anyone to find live music on

most nights of the week. The only real constant in all of these welcome changes is the Bishops Stortford Acoustic Club. These changes are great for listeners to and players of music. It matters not if the music is an original song, a modern cover, a classic, a blues or country or whatever. Live music is why the players practice and perform in the hope that the listeners like it. Bishops Stortford Acoustic Club is in The Long Room at The Half Moon pub in North Street. It has few rivals, with it’s combination of accessible location, easy parking, stage/PA set up and ambience. Acoustic Club is there every other week on a Thursday. We have a tradition of promoting every genre of Acoustic Music with new and established players, seasoned veterans and youngsters making their first appearances. All are welcome and listened to and this will not change. In the past many players have appeared at our club and gone on to greater things….. Sam Smith, Matt Cardle, George Ezra, Charlie XCX, Eric Roache, Jon Gomm to name but a few!! So, what is the format? Acoustic Club is held in the Long Room at the Half Moon pub every other Thursday night. We generally have 8 x 10 minute slots with a 30 minute Showcase at the end. Occasionally we have a night with 6 acts performing 4 songs each, (no Showcase). Doors open at 8.30pm, music starts at 9pm and the Showcase begins at 10.30pm. It is £5 admission for listeners and £2 for players. If you wish to see what is on each week, please get on the Distribution List by sending your email address to >>> [email protected]
If you wish to book a 10 minute two song slot to play and/or sing, please contact Acoustic Club at >>> [email protected]
Please support Bishops Stortford Acoustic Club. We look forward to seeing you and welcoming you.

Bishops Stortford Acoustic Club returns TONIGHT at SOUTH MILL ARTS.

Not sure about the weather BUT we are sure that you will get a top quality evening's live music.

We are delighted to present a marvellously diverse line-up for a "6 Act x 4 Song" evening.

Our booked acts are:

The Larks
Michael Sedgwick
The Paul Booth Trio
Hardcore & Rubble
Pat Crilly & Greg Camburn
Alice Walker

THE LARKS
Liz Miller and Chris Wilbraham are a brilliant duo who are award-winning songwriters as well as being superb performers.
Their music is founded on a solid musicality and their words strike home every time.

MICHAEL SEDGWICK
Michael is a local guy who grew up playing mainly electric guitar around Bishops Stortford and London. After some time away to have a family, he’s now making up for lost time playing a range of acoustic covers and originals. His influences define his performance and he is both a wonderful interpreter of others music as well as giving a glimpse of his own. Great to see him again.

THE PAUL BOOTH TRIO
Pauls songs are the basis of their performance. He moves from topic and subject with a grace that is understated but highly effective. His songs mean a lot to him and with the vocal delivery and musical backing they become instant favourites. You will hear the scintillating bass of Si and the wonderous backing vocals of Verna as well as her ventures into percussion.
The Trio remains a musical high point. They play with conviction and ease, whilst never forgetting that they have a purpose and meaning that whilst obvious never the less remains as a testament to the song writer.

HARDCORE & RUBBLE
Paul and Gary are likely to deliver a set of unadulterated blues, relying on the tone of Pauls National Steel guitar and Gary's excellence on the blues harp.
There will be a focus on fun, entertainment and playing some songs that few will attempt.

PAT CRILLY & GREG CAMBURN
Pat is a great club favourite. It's been a while since he has played at Acoustic Club and it will be marvellous to have him back.
He is a fantastic songwriter telling great stories set round his life and experiences.
Pat has a fine voice and is also blessed with being a cracking guitar/mandolin player.
He will be joined by Greg Camburn journeying down from Norfolk. It will be a joy to see and hear Greg back at the club after a long absence.

ALICE WALKER
Alice is a one off. Her songs are personal, often filled with regret, sometimes filled with hope but always a delight to listen to.
Self-deprecating almost to a fault, Alice’s whole soundscape is based on a firm foundation of great music and top full with her emotional lyrics that often break your heart with their intensity.

Bishop's Stortford Acoustic Club is back TONIGHT at SOUTH MILL ARTS.

We are delighted to present SOUTH OF POLARIS performing a headline set for our audience.

South of Polaris is the Flamenco-infused Alt Folk duo of Danii Reales (UK) and Saúl Díaz (Spain), whose music is as emotionally raw as it is sonically rich. Their sound blends intimate folk storytelling, the fire of flamenco, and the theatrical energy of rock, anchored by Danii’s unforgettable vocals and violin, and Saúl’s intricate Electro-Classical Guitar.
Born from grief, their music became a form of healing, transforming intense emotion into honest, relatable songwriting. Their performances are immersive and dynamic, offering audiences a visceral experience that’s both grounded and transcendent.
A welcome return to these two superb entertainers.

It's Half Term week, so all our two song Floorspots are youngsters.

We have the following acts booked:

Isaac Cameron
Alessandra Freeston
Elliot Laverne
Layla Mone
Jasper Bokay
Ettie Haynes & Alicia Gradica
Seamus Rushden

We are at South Mill Arts Centre, 1 -3 South Road, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire CM23 3JG
